I need some help..........please,
Gentlemen, I am about to enroll in SL Managerial Accounting for my BSBA at Thomas Edison. A fellow student and classmate told me I am going to need a new computer with a video camera, microphone, high-speed internet phone line, w/high gig download speed, etc, etc, etc.
WTF over !!!!
What gives guys ?????
What does a SL online course entail ???? I took financial accounting almost 14 years ago and barely passed; so I am already stressed out having to take this.
My finances after Xmas will not allow me to buy a new computer and all the attachment that go with it.
I want nothing more than to do my study work, do the online testing and finally kill this course requirement !!!
Again guy's......what does it take to complete SL online Managerial Accounting ??
My rant is over. Thank you.
Happy Holidays from N. Texas

Most Sl courses now feature a "proctored" final, that is where your going to need a camera/high speed internet/etc...It's a one time per course thing, you could borrow a computer or maybe set the test up via your local library or something I suspect.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Final exams at SL are proctored via Proctor U. You can see a video of how this works
here. It's straightforward.. I've taken 18 courses thru SL and have no complaints at all regarding the proctoring process.
To take the final proctored exam
you will need a computer that has a webcam and microphone. There's no exception to this. You can buy a cheap webcam at Walmart for under 10 bucks! (
Webcam with Built-In Microphone, $8.62). Or maybe you can ask a friend, neighbor, co-worker, family member to use their computer to take the exam.
You don't need to have a top of the line computer. A regular PC will do.. as long as you have internet connection, a webcam and a microphone. Your computer will probably do. Just get a cheap webcam like the one I posted above. You can even return it and get a refund.. just save your receipt.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I took SL Managerial Accounting, as well. It was tough, but not because of the format.
My computer doesn't have a built in camera, but I do have a clip on Logitech cam that plugs into the CPU. It sincs with the Proctor U site, so you should be able to see and hear the proctor just fine. No need to buy a new computer at all. Spend a little on the Logitech cam and a headset w/ microphone at Wal-Mart, and it should do fine.
I do have DSL, and that is recommended to help you get optimum service.
