Hey everybody, for a few months now I have been looking into pursuing a bachelors degree, so I have been trying to find out some info on how I could possibly get one as fast and as affordable as possible. I heard about getting a degree quickly through credit from examination. I have heard about the big 3 schools that will accept exams as credit. I am completely lost with trying to figure out what exams I would have to take etc. A little background first. I have never went to college. I make decent money so affording exams etc shouldn't be that hard. I have no idea what degree I would like to pursue, but honestly in my case it does not matter. The end goal is that I would love to teach English abroad and in most countries a accredited bachelors degree is required (In any subject). So my question is does anybody know of some degrees that are easier to obtain than others? and if so could anybody point me in the direction of what exams are needed etc? I know I'm asking for a lot however any incite I would greatly appreciate! Thank you!

Have you read the introductory wiki? If not, I’d start there. Take a look at the various degrees and see what you’re interested in. COSC tends to be cheapest. There are some degree plans posted on the wiki. I’m sure others will respond too.
They also put together a list of free credit on the wiki. You could start with the free Sophia credits. You’ll need to reserve Study.com for UL credit most likely, so grab the free or cheap stuff that’ll fill electives or LL credit now. Some people have preferred methods of getting credit, so that’ll help you decided. CLEP is free via Modern states right now, that’s independent study then take 1 test, no assignments (College composition req’s a written portion too). If you don’t like the one-and-done format, Study has a ton of little quizzes, a few assignments and a proctored final. Each provider offers a little bit different experience.

BA in Liberal Studies concentration humanities or social science one of the easiest.
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.

Before you do anything, you need to check with the government where you want to apply to make sure they recognize the school. This may be less of an issue now, but I know one person who got their degree and ultimately found out it was considered an 'online school' despite being accredited. I would also avoid degrees that can only be completed online. There should be no difference between an in-school degree or online degree for your program. Your degree and transcript should look the same as a traditional student's to avoid issues.

Hey thanks for all of the info guys. It will definitely be an adventure! And yes, I will make sure there is no difference between the degree I get online vs the same degree in the classroom. I would imagine if the actual school does have classes at the facility but also does distance learning that it should hopefully be the same as if I was in the classroom. Definitely something I will have to look into however. Thanks guys!

Cheapest will probably be a BALS/BSLS at COSC.
Other option is a competency-based degree from WGU, some others.

Ahh ok. I greatly appreciate that, as my degree is for me to teach abroad in Japan and I was worried there for a second, lol.

My mentor has been teaching English overseas for many many years. He went through Thomas Edison State University (TESU) to get a BA in Liberal Studies (very quick) and it is recognized globally because it is regionally accredited.
The majority of your degree has the option to take Study.com courses and your academic advisor will guide you to all the TESU and study.com courses that will get you to your degree in the quickest amount of time.
I just went through the process, because I am also trying to teach overseas, and they laid everything out step-by-step. Meeting with TESU counselors over the phone regularly will keep you on the right path. I wish you all of the best in your ESL pursuit!
