I received the bill today from Excelsior for the graduation fee for my Associate's degree. I was surprised to see another line item on the invoice titled "Graduation Gift to the College" for $35. The fine print does state that it is optional and it can be manually removed from the total invoice amount. The inclusion of the item at all strikes me as a little gutsy. I have to admit I'm a bit tempted to add another line for "Graduation Gift to the Student" and subtract out part of the fee...but I am not quite brave enough. I put too much effort into this degree to risk it now!

Wow, you're right that was pretty "gutsy" (not the word I would normally use, but this is a family-friendly forum). I would definitely call them up and have that removed ASAP. Too bad they can't take that money and invest in a decent diploma for their graduates.....yes, I'm still not over that one yet..

I am not a student of excelsior (besides just taking their tests towards my university), but are their diplomas not decent?
Also, you are right, that is really... really... really...............yeah... Wow.
I am surprised they have the gumption to pull that kinda thing. x_x
