I have finally got an email back from TESC that they have finished my evaluation. What is the next steps can someone help me out. I am trying to read the evaluation but how do I know what courses to take and what cleps to take to test out of them? I want to start studying and taking tests as soon as possible. If I am reading this information right it looks like I need 48 credits. I also have a question. If I got a bad grade in a course can I opt to take it again to get a higher grade through clep? If you post your eval here then you will get a lot of great ideas from people. As for the interpretation of your eval, you might like this link:

That explains some details on what is categorized in each area and talks about what the codes all mean.
To answer your other question, yes you can repeat a course, the problem will become which grade is kept. The policy states that the higher grade is kept but lets say you have a "C" you want to replace with a Pass/Fail exam. I'm not sure that would work since a "CR" (Pass) isn't technically above a "C". You might want to ask the school that question if you are going to do it.
If you don't want to post your whole eval, then post what you've completed and which areas are missing. If you are missing Humanities credits and are even remotely good with reading and interpretation, then the first exam you should take is Analyze and Interpret Literature (CLEP), it is six credits and considered by most to be easy.

If you need any electives then start working on FEMA credits too. Search this forum and try to find a recent list of which exams are accepted. They are FREE to take and transfer to TESC and some other schools.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

I'll fill in some options below...
Humanities - Need six credits:
-Take Analyze and Interpret Literature (CLEP), it will satisfy both open courses (six credits)
Macro/Micro:
-Take either Macro or Micro exams
Social Sciences:
-Pick a course from CLEP or DSST that fits or take Social Sciences and History which would fulfill both this opening and your opening for Gen Ed Elective (it is six credits!)
Mathematics:
-Take Algebra from Aleks.com, get 70% on an assessment either right away or after study and you'll get three credits for this requirement. They charge $20 / month plus you have to pay ACE to transfer the credit
Nat Sci / Math:
-Take a Nat Sci or Math exam or take another ALEKS course (such as Intermediate Algebra which is actually lower level than college algebra)
-or take a computer exam (they count as Nat Sci/Math)
General Ed Electives:
-Take the advice from above about Social Sciences and History and this will be met, or take any Humanities, Social Science, or Nat Sci/Math course
Principles of Managerial Accounting
-Check out Straighterline ( Transfer College Credits To Thomas Edison State College (TESC) - StraighterLine)
Business Law
-CLEP Intro Business Law
Prin of Management
-CLEP Prin. of Mgmt

Check out Straigherline again or some DSST exams, there are dozens of ways to get these credits.
Need more ideas? Others will give you more ideas from other sources, I just love CLEP and DSST so I advise those whenever possible. Once you enroll the school's advisors can help too, they will tell you recommendations and of course help plan courses at TESC if you choose to take them there.

For CLEP specifically I recommend the Official CLEP Study Guide available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and others. It has every exam inside with study ideas and a practice exam. For both CLEP & DSST you'll want to check out instantcert and free-clep-prep.com

There's a web site, Free Clep Prep.com, by Justin. If you look up the test you're interested in taking, he has links to web sites to educate you in the subject matter. His links appear to follow the information sheets for the two types (CLEP and DSST) exams. Also, if you have the money, JOIN INSTACERT. It's the payment part of this web site. There are "flash cards" for you to use to study for each exam. Also, and equally as important, there are many posts with feedback and notes for these tests. Fellow posters who have taken the exams - and whose minds aren't mush afterwards! - post about topics that they encountered in the exam. If you go to DSST's web site, they aslo list the textbooks from which they've garnered information for the test. Usually, buying a previous edition is fine. As to Straighterline, you might want to find other options. They've instituted new policies regarding proctors which make them MUCH less helpful for those of us in this forum. Good luck!

IMHO, it depends on how much you already know about the topic. If you do IC, and you use the Internet to check concepts, ideas, etc., that
you don't understand, then getting the book might not be necessary. The advantage of the books is that there are sample tests. So far, I've only used IC for courses that I already know a great deal about, and I haven't gotten the books. If you're nervous about exams, and want to see what they look like, the book would come in handy. Good luck.
