Hey all,
I just finished the Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union DSST. I took the paper version so I don't have a score just yet. Overall I feel as though I passed it but I will say it was challenging. Also, several questions covered things that I didn't see anywhere. Here are some other tips....
Be sure you know who Peter Stolypin is and what he supported regarding agricultural reforms...
Be familiar with Gorbachev's policies, which worked, which didn't. Also know his feelings about the communist party and the free market system....
Know the key players who vied for power prior to Kruschev's rule...
Be familiar with who was and was not in the Warsaw Pact...
Several questions about the 1905 revolution...(much more than expected)
Know all your dissidents as well as cultural influencers (i.e. Meyerhold, Sakharov etc.)
Hope this helps. I highly recommend the book, "The Soviet Colossus" by Michael Kort to help fill in the gaps.
