Getting Started
#1
I'm having trouble motivating myself to get started! I have the books and need to get studying. I am determined. First, I think I am going to take a few CLEP’s. I am affiliated with the community college here and already know which tests they accept. They are also pretty good with transferred credit because we have a HUGE military population.

I will start with Sociology, since everyone says it’s easy and I am familiar with it already. Next I will work toward my maths and accounting. Ultimately my degree is Accounting, but this may change.

Accounting is what I do, not what I love, if you know what I mean. I will think more about it and look into Excelsior and the others. I am also thinking WGU. I have heard/read a lot of good things about them

Wish me luck everyone!

Welcome aboard! Just one word of caution: you may very easily get hooked once you've sat and passed your first test, so be prepared. Smile

I have not taken Sociology but I hear it's one of the easier exams so I think it's a good choice to start.

I think it also may be useful If you post a list of the exams you're planning to take here on the boards, I'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback and encouragement , enough to keep you going I hope.

Best of luck!

Don't think about a "few" CLEPs. Instead, just take one...then you'll be off and running. Read this post: http://www.instantcertonline.com/forums/...pery+slope

Nothing could be more true...
Good luck!

Well, if you have a family, then you can use them as motivation. That's what I did. I'm not sure if I would have had the motivation to finish my degree, if I didn't have a family to support.

Oh, and just because you're already doing something, doesn't mean you have to keep doing it. You know the saying, "Do what you like and you'll never have to work a day in your life."
