General Chem I & II, Organic Chem I & II, Physics I & II Biochemistry😥

I'm confused because some Chem II class descriptions include Organic Chem and biochem.


Also I need help on finding a faster way to complete these. They all require labs.

TESC BA Biology Req:

General Chemistry with Lab(8)
General Physics with Lab(8)
Organic Chemistry with Lab(8)

I'm assuming that means this:?
General Chemistry I w/Lab (4)
General Chemistry II w/Lab (4)
Organic Chemistry I, w/ Lab (4)
Organic Chemistry II w/ Lab (4)
General Physics I w/Lab (4)
General Physics II w/Lab (4)

Can I clep Chemistry (6) and complete labs I & 2 online for a total of 8 credits? General Biology with lab I & II (8) is also listed on the site and I don't understand if I can complete the Bio Clep (6) and 2 labs?

General chemistry is sometimes taught as a 3 credit course and the lab is taught as a separate 1 credit course. This can be the same with the other lab courses. I know of a couple of places that you can take General chemistry I and II online with lab, but the Organic Chem and Physics I thing you need to do at a brick and morter school. Not all schools offer the labs separate some are one 4 credit course with lab.

Just curious but what degree are you going for that you need all of those lab courses and don't want to do them in seat? I might be a science snob but if you are taking all of those lab courses to get a science degree I would expect to see at least some of them be in a real lab.

My plan says that CLEP Chemistry will cover the lecture portions of Chem I and II. You can take the standalone labs at University of New England. That's why I listed the requirements separately. A standalone lab for bio II is more difficult to find. It might be better to just take bio I and II as courses with the labs attached. University of New England also offers standalone labs for organic chemistry.

Omg Thanks God! I called TESC yesterday but the poor lady didn't understand my question she kept mentioning a&p and I'm like sorry I didn't say a&p and I repeated my question and she mentioned a&p again and I kindly had to thank her and hang up still not knowing. Really happy I can clep chemistry for 6 credits and take both labs!! I think I want to take bio anyway instead of clepping! Also I am considering now your advice on doing the science and mathematics degree so I can graduate faster and then just go back to the rest of the biology degree. That way I can start applying for Drexels accelerated bsn program faster and I would just go back to bio after I finish their program

Hii the requirements for the program I want don't include all of these. Well some require organic chem some require a yr of chemistry and some have Biochemistry in the curriculum. My goal is not to necessarily use each class for a degree or program but instead have the biology degree itself pump up my application. I want to attend rutgers' crna program because the admissions and curriculum appeal the most to me. (No Biochemistry in the curriculum like SUNY Albanys Nurse Anesthesiology program for example).

General Chemistry course can be both an introduction to chemistry and an introduction to more advanced topics.

For example chapters on measurements and calculations would be Analytical Chemistry. States of matter, lattice structures, and thermodynamics would be Physical Chemistry. Study of elements other than Carbon and Hydrogen could be considered Inorganic chemistry. Organic chemistry could also be called Hydrocarbon chemistry in an introductory text book while Biochem could be called the chemistry of biology.

Have you looked at all of the prereqs for the program? I know that getting a degree is one of your first goals, but make sure to line everything up.

Hi organic chem and physics I won't do online I want a bio degree to apply for an accelerated BSN program(An accelerated nursing program for those who have a Bachelor degree in Anything) my goal after that is to be a CRNA. Nurse Anesthesia programs are highly competitive there will be a better chance if I have a degree in biology, chemistry or physics along with being an RN (Some allow you to have only your associates in nursing with one of the three science degrees I mentioned). So in short the sciences and the Bio degree are for CRNA school

Yes! The prereqs are not a problem they all are included in my biology degree plan!

Except for statistics but I am not too worried It will be the only thing left Im thinking ALEKS?

I'm taking Stats in the 2nd half a spring term. Had I found this site and ALEKS sooner, I probably would have gone that route instead.

Have you used ALEKS yet? If not at $20/month it is worth testing it out before making your decision.
