GRE Psych ?
#1
Hello everyone,
I have a quick GRE Psych/Excelsior question. I was planning on (eventually sometime in late Winter/early Spring once I've knocked out some CLEP/DSSTs first) taking the GRE Psychology.
I read their website (I'm in the "waiting to apply and enroll until I'm closer" crowd) and I know up to 30 credits, first 12 LL, last 18 UL, but it also states something to the effect of "you won't receive credit for the equivalent of courses already completed" since they determine what score equates to what.
Here's my question- should I even bother taking it if I already have 9 credits in Psych (Intro, Psych of Adjustment, and Child Development)? If I take it and qualify for, let's say, 12 credits, they would really only award me 3 extra (bc I already have 9 LL). That's how I read it, and in that case, another CLEP test would make up the difference and is easier to study for. I was planning on doing a couple of the DSST tests to make up the difference.
If it makes a difference, I'm going for the BS Psych and BSGB Business degree (and I know about the new changes, I wish I had known about Excelsior prior).

Edited to add their wording from their site: "For each examination, faculty have determined the courses that duplicate the GRE Subject Test, and no credits will be awarded that duplicate course credits already on your transcript."

That was long-sorry! Any help is appreciated
I'm done!

You are correct. I earned 12 credits and already had 12. The exam was a wash for me. However, the time I spent studying was not wasted. The ECE exams were much easier.
The requirements for the Psych degree have changed since I completed mine. I'm not sure you can receive 30 credits for the exam. The Snazz can help you out there. He is working on his and has the current requirements.

Good Luck
