Thanks Andy. I've decided this is probably above my son's head, your post pretty much cemented it for me!

I took my second and last DSST for my degree today. I scored 403 on the Fundamentals of Cybersecurity. I found both posts #1 and #7 very helpful. I watched
Professor Messer's CompTIA SY0-401 Security+ Training Course | Professor Messer - CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Linux, Microsoft Technology Training (Professor Messer's CompTIA SY0-401 Security+ Training Course | Professor Messer IT Certification Training Courses). I also used Mike Meyers' Certification Passport CompTIA Security+ Exam SYO-401. I found Professor Messer's videos more helpful than the book. I have no experience with IT. I have been around it and heard people talk about it. This was a very difficult test. My job I use many of the higher security requirements for computers on my day to day tasks so I picked up a little with that. I took 4 weeks to study for this test. It was very difficult. I had three questions related to port numbers, so I believe the test has a random factor on the questions you will get. If you do not feel calm going into this test take extra time to study for it. I found studying for this exam very fun and helpful building better security at home. Good luck on your studies and your test.

I literally registered here to thank Thomas and Justin for their posts. I scored a 426 today and this test is definitely no joke. I've got my SEC+ and I've been to school for Ethical Hacking (I'm working on the cert). I also work in the IT field for the Navy.
All I can say is read Thomas' and Justin's post and try to understand as much of it as you can. Some additional resources I found useful: Good General Guide https://www.studynotesandtheory.com/wp-c...ISSP-1.pdf First Response Information http://www.crest-approved.org/wp-content...-Guide.pdf Also make sure you know the different types of physical security (Detection, Prevention, etc.). Good luck!

I am taking this on Wednesday. I feel like I do not have more than a general grasp of things like SDLA, SLA, hypervisors, IPSec, etc. I have tried to study all the topics in the previous posts, but there is a lot of material. Any last minute tips would be greatly appreciated.

Skim a book on CISSP if you have the time. Just speed read the main points.
A little bit beyond a general grasp should be enough. If you work in IT (or are a serious IT hobbyist) and skim the CISSP book, you should be able to pass.
