I am hopeful that at least some of this applies to the Network Technology TECEP as well. I'd like to be able to take the CIS-375 Human-Computer Interaction challenge exam and transfer that to TESU but, if I don't pass the test or something, at least I should have options.
Just curious if you're planning on taking the CompTIA Network+? If you are, I have quite a list of resources I used to prepare. Many of which should also help for the networking TECEP(I assume).
I really don't want to touch networking with a 10-foot pole. I doubt I'll be taking the CompTIA exam. I much prefer the programming side of comp. sci. but a comp sci degree requires networking so networking it shall be. That said, I would appreciate those resources because I have a feeling that, if I have to take it, the Networking Technology TECEP will be the hardest exam I'll have to do for this degree. Possibly the most difficult one I'll ever have to take due to my dislike of the subject.
I don't blame you!
Here's a link to my write-up on reddit, including links to free videos I used and free subnetting practice sites.
I also just shared some of this info on the corresponding networking TECEP thread

I got asked if I was ready to spend 5 hours per week per class (absolutely!) but otherwise the registration process went well enough. I still don't necessarily like Strayer but I can understand why people might choose them over another school.
That's great news. I'm still trying to schedule another talk with a dean to switch out of ECON110 and take math or CIS courses. Do you have any info about the textbook costs for the courses you 're switching to? I'd also be interested in costs for CIS106 as they may require that -- I don't have any certs that seem to cover it.
How did you talk your way into MAT210 without ECO110?
If you go to strayerbookstore.com without logging in through iCampus it has a cost calculator. It looks like my total cost will be about $300 which is fair enough for RA credits. CIS106 requires the TestOut LabSim access code and that is $157.38. This code is also valid for a couple of other courses that I forget off the top of my head. If you take those courses at the same time, you only need the one access code and don't have to buy another.
As for how I did it: It helped that I had a really awesome admissions guy helping me out. I also did NOT argue about taking WRK100. Do I want to take it? Absolutely not. But not pushing back against that one course meant that I was "allowed" to pick 3 more courses with very little issues. The biggest issue was getting my transcripts into the system. Since the only actual prerequisite for MAT-210 is MAT-104/110 (Algebra from Sophia), I was able to add the math class to my class list.
Thanks for the tip about going into the bookstore without logging in! I should have thought of that It assuaged my concerns--no $300 textbooks required for any of the classes I'm interested in. Hopefully will be talking to a dean later today.

I just passed the CIS 170 challenge exam. This exam was the normal 50 questions with a pass score of 70 percent. The exam time was 90 minutes, but it took me about 20 minutes to finish.
The topics that I remember from the exam: types of computer crime - computer as target, computer as instrument, computer as incidental, computer as facilitator, categories of information terrorism/warfare, cryptography, neutralization, denial of victim, trojans, Syke's and Matza's drift theory, Fortune 1000 companies experience 67 espionage attacks each year, worms/self-replication, viruses, methods of cyber-stalking, hackers: gray/white/black hat; criminal/not criminal?, web site defacement as information attack, cyber plagues, primary virus environments, hedonistic orientation stage.
I think that I probably just passed this one. I studied for about an hour during some breaks in the day using some quizlet cards and web pages.

MAT-210 is, indeed, statistics in some form. The bookstore initially sent me the wrong ALEKS code for some other class but they were quite prompt in sending me a code that actually applied to MAT-210 once I sent them a support ticket regarding the issue.

I just passed the FIN-320 Investments challenge exam. This exam follows the normal 50 question format and has a 180 minute test window. As with all of the other challenge exams that I have taken, time was not an issue at all. It is a 50 question multiple choice exam and it should not take that much time to pick an answer. I will go through my notes tomorrow to make a list of subjects covered, but I think that it was a very doable exam. I am currently up to 13.5 quarter hours or the equivalent of 9 semester hours with the exams.

FAIL. I just received the academic evaluation status completed email. TESU is showing that they received my Strayer transcript on 1/6 on the received transcript screen. However, the CIS170 - IT in criminal justice credit is nowhere to be seen on my unofficial transcript or academic evaluations. Strayer is not listed as a credit source on my evals. Anyone have any suggestions on how to move forward or appeal this? Otherwise, it looks like challenge exams won't transfer.

Hmm, interesting... It may have been placed into your "other" courses field below the line of required courses in your degree's academic evaluation. It maybe best to have a second or third set of eyes take a look at your evaluation. Copy/paste a screenshot or pdf of the info, have everything but your personal details, it most likely is placed in the "other" field at the bottom of the list.

If they don't transfer, that sucks! I know Strayer challenge exams have been suggested as a source of credit multiple times in the past. It's disappointing if they don't actually work that way.

I just noticed this tiny note at the bottom of my academic evaluations:
Quote:01/12/21 No credit has been awarded from Strayer Univ as all coursework appearing is transfer. If this is incorrect, please contact institution and have a corrected transcript sent.
That's the confirmation right there. Because Strayer lists challenge exam credits under transfer credits, TESU won't take anything.
I have thoroughly reviewed all my TESU webadvisor pages, and I am 100% sure that no new credits came through. None of the total credit numbers changed, and the dates would also make any new credits obvious.
I guess the possible paths forward are:
- Appeal the evaluation at TESU
- Ask Strayer to move challenge exam credits to the undergraduate record section of the transcript
