Not sure if this is worth a separate thread of it's own, but does anyone understand this new obsession with badges? Apparently it's much better if I cover my resume with a bunch of meaningless teeny-tiny icons, than if I write a few lines about relevant certifications.
Meh. Badges don't inspire me the way a nice-looking certificate does.
Well, there are two aspects to it that could become interesting. The first is that these badges can be combined with blockchain technology to verify the authenticity of the badge even if the badge provider goes out of business. The second is that the badges are supposedly more skills based and the dream is that these become building blocks to larger credentials and maybe even degrees - haha! Not likely. Also I like the wallets that these can be placed into. Hopefully it develops in a more open source way than certificates so that it could become like one big open source transcript.
The alternative and more likely scenario is that these just go away in a few years.

Just thought I'd give a shout out here to how amazing Skillsoft's tech support is. I use the Percipio platform for one of my classes in an industry training program and was having a log in issue that I couldn't resolve myself and my organization never got back to me so I called Skillsoft's tech support(which I now know is 24/7) and I was connected with someone in under a minute and they helped me resolve the problem in just a couple minutes while being very professional. Such great tech/customer support is very rare and deserves recognition!

So you can only get college credit if you are in the army or IRS?
Thought I'd share that I did finish one of the ACE approved courses at home. I submitted to ACE, even though I don't think it qualifies as I didn't do it through the Army, IRS or any other "authorized test site."
Crossing fingers just in case. It's worth a shot.

Keep us posted on if this works!
By the way, anyone can gain free access to SkillSoft by signing up with Robert half international or any of the divisions such as office team. You don't even have to work a temp job to get access to skillsoft. I'm planning on encouraging my friends teen kids to apply just to get access.
