$130 for the certificate? Get out of here! That's insane.

For a qualified Six Sigma certificate, $130 is actually relatively inexpensive. I've seen them for $1000+. Companies often pay for their employees to take them.

Yellow belt isn't $1000. My husband is green belt through work. Cost him $0.

At the white and yellow levels of this as these are introductory level, I wouldn't even bother spending any cash on them, there are a few freebies out there that were mentioned in previous threads. However, when you get to the green and higher levels, I would suggest looking for a paid version that does provide a valid certificate ASQ (Gold, more expensive standard) or IASSC (Silver, cheaper) authorized/recognized...

If a person actually works in manufacturing, getting anything less than green belt does not really matter. Sure, doing it for free or for like 25 bucks is fine, but 130? Yeah, no.

I'm not super familiar with this area. Does it matter whether you get a certificate or certification? If you go the certification route, does it matter who you earn your certification from?

LinkedIn has yellow, green, and black belt learning paths that come with a certificate after you watch all of the videos. Some people can get free access through their college/university or public library. The monthly subscription price also isn't that bad.
