I would be taking a NYU Foreign language proficiency exam. The application form states
" The student must arrange to have the examination administered by a proctor who is a college faculty member, administrator, or government official."
As i don't have any good idea's where I could find myself a proctor your kind help would be appreciated.
I am in Raleigh , NC

Any local college should have a testing center that should proctor the exam for you. I had to take an enterence exam at my last school which was 100 miles away and the local testing center had it sent to them and did it for me.
Good Luck.

There are a few options that you can choose. First try the local library and speak with the librarian; this is usually free. Or, you can call your local CC or University and speak with their testing department; this will cost about $15-25.
good luck

From my limited understanding of the NYU exams, they cover only reading and listening comprehension. You may also find this of interest:

The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages has a program that is accredited by the American Council of Educaiton. Its an oral interview via the phone with a proficient speaker of the language you are testing for. Up to 12 credits can be earned via this method. The test only consists of the speaking interview, so the credit may not be duplicative with the NYU exam. Hindi and Punjabi are both availible. If you score the highest possible score, 8LL and 4 UL credits can be earned for each language.

I know about ACTFL test but Thanks for pointing that out again.
In a different thread i asked folks if they could confirm from adviser's of BIG 3 that would NYU and ACTFL credits be duplicates or not? But that thread went into a battle ground between members at this forum.
I know of the fact NYU is listening, reading and writing whereas ACTFL is speaking. But would like take both NYU and ACTFL only after I am sure they won't duplicate.
I emailed TESC personally but as I am not enrolled they didn't answer me.
I still request the enrolled students at BIG 3 if they could find out if ACTFL and NYU foreign language exams would duplicate with each other or not.
Thanks
