Feelings about TESU / online schools

I have the same feeling either. BUt comparing to the other branded (top 10-50) universities, you have to spend more time and much more money on it.
I'm also very confusing which school I should take. And I also won't tell anybody that I get degree from TESU online.

I think if you say TESU, anyone can guess that it was online, or partly through testing or prior learning. Especially if they know you weren't in New Jersey during that time period. Whoever sees your transcript can be pretty sure of the testing-out.

If TESU is embarrassing then get a masters to be proud of. Don’t let your own perception negatively influence others though.

I'm getting a Masters that is not the best either, but I'm sure I want to. Partly so I can enter a doctoral program sooner (or other program).

How you feel is how you feel I guess, but if it helps any I know 2 people each have a bachelor degree from TESU and each have prestigious jobs that pay well and they are respected experts in their fields. In fact, one of them actually used how he obtained the degree, by self-study and proctored exams, during a job interview, which impressed the interviewers (and he did get the job). It shows that you have self-discipline and will work hard and don't need to have your hand held or be spoon fed. And the other was the one who turned me on to TESU in the first place. If anyone asks tell them it's a regionally accredited school and that it's used a lot by military personnel to get their degrees while they serve. All true, and a lot of people respect the military, at least where I live, which lends respect to the school.

I tend to agree with most everyone who has posted. You have every right to be proud of a TESU degree. Your degree through TESU was one were you took the intiative to earn a bachelors. Even though it was medically not possible for you to earn one at a B & M school, You researched, you studied, you went through the hassle of multiple course providers and consolidating transcripts. Ultimately, you are walking away with not only a BA but an education that means something to you. It wasn't cookie cuttered by a college advisor. You saw a need and you took responsibility for your own education! What is so bad about that? This is a side note, but as a future teacher, I support online learning! But I won't delve into that so this thread stays on topic!

I'm not sure I'd spend the time and money getting a degree from a school that I would later have to be ashamed of going to. That makes no sense to me. Either get the degree and be proud, or don't waste your time and money. There's really no in-between.

I know 2 members here in real life with degrees from the big 3 each earning over 6 figures. I won't out them, but they are regular long-term posters here. I'm sure there are others, and not that salary is the only measure of success, but I think it's probably not the big issue you think it is.

No one cares. I don't care. It's a degree worth the exact same as any other. Some students spend 40k and 4 years earning theirs. I spent 5k and 1 year. My degree is worth the same and I paid 8x less in cash and 4x years of time. Who's actually the smarter student?

I'm almost certain that one person has outed themselves on the forum. They're quite the rebel. 

And I'm *this* close to joining that club as well - on both counrs.

I'm not quite finished with my degree (6 classes to go), but I did just land a new position in part because of the fact that I've gone back to finish my degree at almost 50, which greatly impressed the manager and director who interviewed me.

They didn't care where I was getting it. They only cared that I was getting it.

And that new position is just a shade under 6 figures. Put it this way - 2 good performance reviews, and I'll reach that magic number. 

It's also 33% more than I've ever made at any other job in my 32 years of employment. And it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't gone back to school.
