Federal Income Tax TECEP
#1
Looking for some feedback here. This is one of the TECEPs I plan on taking. I did the practice thing on the website and got half the multiple choice right and all of the computational ones right. I actually work for my states tax department so I'm pretty good with the computational stuff. Just looking to see how in depth the exam goes or if it stays in line with the "practice" questions.a

I did this TECEP but am not sure I can address your specific question, as I didn't do the practice questions. Took the H&R Block income tax course years ago, prepared income taxes for several years professionally, and was licensed in CA for it for a few years. So I just took it pretty much cold. If memory serves, the test was pretty basic from the standpoint of 1040 income tax prep. I remember feeling like it wasn't that hard. The H&R Block course was very good preparation, in that it taught us how tax returns were supposed to look, how they are supposed to be structured. If you know what I mean, you'll probably do fine on the TECEP.
BSBA/Accounting TESU (2016). MSA UIUC (2018).

Need help with portfolios? I earned 18 credits at TESU through portfolio evaluations. Nine of those were for upper level accounting courses. My advice for PLA/portfolios: TESU portfolio tips The first post has the Portfolio Checklist I created. Page ten has the actual narrative I wrote to receive credit for ACC-440.

Using Straighterline's Financial Accounting as a substitute for TESU's Intermediate Accounting I? Don't do it if you are an accounting major and/or want your CPA license. They are not the same course and I think TESU has erred in accepting the SL course as Intermediate I. I made this discovery here: Intermediate Accounting II.

I'm assuming memorizing the tax tiers would be half the battle?

It's open book, so you don't have to memorize anything.

Thanks for the info. I just took the pre-test, it seems very logical to me. I do my taxes, S-Corp, and Partnership returns every year. Not to steal the thread but thanks for the heads up.

I did not take it through ProctorU. I took it before online proctoring. My local CC offers free proctoring so I did it there.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually work for NYS Tax and Finance so I have a really good base for Income Taxes both Federally and Local. I think I will just be able to rent a tax code book and take it after I enroll in TESU
