Did you know that our friends in Europe offer free practice resources for the French, Spanish, and German CLEPs?

Actually, these materials are offered to help practice for the CEFR exams, which Wikipedia explains better than I could:

All of these practice resources offer listening, reading, and writing sections, which might be useful if you decide to take the ACTFL or NYU exams (even in the non-CLEP languages listed and linked on the Wikipedia page).

Thank you for the information, KayV. An article the other day on the radio (NPR?) was about the financial benefits of learning a second language when English is your first language. Very few languages even raised your salary 2%. The interesting thing was that in other countries, learning English could increase you salary by a significant percentage.

That said, I never took Spanish or French for the money. The interactions I was able to have with others, even with my feeble skills, made all of the classwork worthwhile.

Thanks KayV. Goethe.de & Duolingo are my favorite free resources for German. Married to a German, all of our kids are fluent in German & I still struggle if the majority of the language is English for too long in the house. These resources along with Rosetta Stone (yes it works) are nice ways to keep the language fresh in your head.

Heading to Colombia for a few weeks in Oct & Jan - I'll give the Inicio - Diplomas de Español DELE a shot. After watching a couple episodes of Narcos (Netflix), I'm a little more focused on saying the write things during my visits
