Can you comment further on how rigorous the material is? Are you learning a lot? Are the modules reasonably updated?

This is a real and rigorous master’s program. It is definitely not an easy program. There are three semesters, each lasting 11 weeks. The first two semesters include two courses each, while the final semester is dedicated to the capstone project. Currently, I am studying IT 721 Applied Research Topics in Deep Learning: Theory and Practical Applications and IT 547 Data Storage Technologies. The academic team states that students should spend approximately 15 hours per week on the two courses. However, some students say they spend more then 20 hours. For me, around 15 hours per week is currently enough, but I have an IT background. Each course includes prerecorded lectures, reading materials, Jupyter notebooks for practical coding labs, and recommended literature for every week. I usually need between one and three hours to watch the video lectures for one course. In addition, there are graded quizzes and assignments every week. The Deep Learning course includes AI and data science case studies that require coding, model development, analysis, and written reflection. The Data Storage Technologies course includes discussion forum posts, written assignments, database design tasks, proof-of-concept database implementations, and coding assignments. We also have a live session every Sunday. Each session lasts 1.5 hours. The subjects alternate: one week, the live session focuses on databases, and the next week, it focuses on deep learning. You need to plan enough time to watch the lectures, read the course materials and recommended book chapters, complete quizzes, and work on assignments. We have ten days to complete assignments, while quizzes are usually available for one week. The professors are Walsh College faculty members, and grading is also handled by Walsh College. There are strict academic integrity rules concerning plagiarism and the use of AI tools. So far, I am learning a lot, especially through the coding assignments and practical case studies. The material appears reasonably current and combines theory with practical work. However, the program requires consistent weekly effort and good time management. |
