Failed a Clep Yesterday
#1
Hi,
I found out about of month ago that if I do not complete my remaining 14 credits by August my degree program will be changing and I will have to take additional classes (around 5?). I took Principles of Supervision, Heres to your Health, and Drugs and Alcohol last week. Principles of Supervision seemed relatively easy and I used InstantCert and Petersens mainly. Heres to your health seemed to go well also and Drugs and Alcohol was probably the toughest of the three but I felt I passed it. I paid to have my scores expediated so I am hoping to get the results of the first three by the 27th.

I took the Natural Science clep yesterday and failed miserably. I felt like I had too much study material available to me (didn't know what to master) and nothing I studied was really on the test. I pretty much guessed the entire way.

I am scheduled to take Criminal Justice (DSST) and the Fundamentals of Counseling tomorrow and Thursday. I am just using InstantCert and hope that will be enough given the short amount of time I have to study.

Anyway - sorry for the long post just wanted to share my recent experiences. Hope everyone else is having better luck this week.

Wow, nothing like being under the gun. That's some pressure you are under. I haven't taken the Natural Science exam....yet....sounds like I don't want to. What did you use to prepare for it. Do you have other options so that you will complete all your credits by August.

Good luck with your exams this week. I hope they go well. Let us know how it all turns out. I don't envy you but if you can do it, how great it will be to be finished. That's the silver lining!

Thanks. I used speedyprep prodminantly and the passyourclass study guide. I did some studying in the Natural Sciences clep book and took two of the Petersens practice tests. I hope you have a much better experience when you take this test. Good luck to you as well.

I'm just curious, I have considered this test also. On other test I have found my results on the Petersons were a pretty good predictor of how I did on the real thing.

I didn't do very well on the Petersen's tests either. Maybe I should have taken that as a sign. Wink

based on different feedbacks I had so far, Natural science since a few month became very difficult to pass, when I passed it was not like that, biology was way harder than NS but now looks like both are hard and tricky, they probably changed the NS questions. good luck !

Can you take the Biology exam?

I took both the natural science and the biology exam.
Natural science was broader, less specific, and required a person really have a little bit of experience in all science fields (Including physics and chemistry)
Biology was more "on the mark" about the material. I thought biology was easier in that there was less calculation and more of an orginizational memorization of names than anything

Good luck beating the deadlines!

I thought the Intro to Computing material was harder than the Peterson's and was off the mark from the preparation material. Is it possible that it was revised? How often do the exams get revised and is there any notification of the revision?

Actually, yes. You need to be hitting at least 50-60% on the Petersons before you try the CLEP in my opinion.

I think CLEP Natural science is an exam to take after you try the CLEP biology, but you don't have to do it that way....that said, it's 50% biology, so if you can pass the biology, you can probably pull out a full 12 credits for both. Did you follow the CLEP outline? I find they are usually very accurate.

Keep your chin up. I took the natural science test on 7/24 and also failed (48). I thought I was well prepared but it does appear the test may have changed and my study materials didn't reflect that. Took the history and Social Science the same day and passed it without isue. This Natural Science, thus far, is my one and only failure and I've spent much of the past two days beating my self up and feeling blue over it. I'm taking a shot at the Biology test next. Best of luck to you!
