Everyone has mentioned DSST allows more time but I choose to be more specific.
CLEP tests are 90 minutes and DSST are 2 hours. If time scares you, this may be a factor.

Another thing is with CLEPS's you have 5 Humanities exams, 1 Social Sciences/History exam, and 4 Natural Sciences/Mathematics exams that are worth 6 credits each, instead of 3. This helps rack up some credits quick.
Also, EC does give letter grades for DSST's, just not the newer ones that have a 3 digit score. I got a 70 for Astronomy (letter grade), and a 464 on Intro to World Religions (no letter grade, just pass or fail).

IMAO Dantes just seem to be better overall, you get letter grades instead of CR for cleps that you pass, but i do think that cleps are easier to pass in general than Dantes.
