Could someone with Excelsior experience help me with three questions? I applied Wednesday but my transcripts have not been evaluated yet of course.
Preface: Going for a bs liberal studies. 100 credits from 2 RA California State Universities (all C's or higher, no overlap), 10 ACE evaluated military credits, possible 6 or nine UoP credits, and 7 raw FEMA credits.
1. I have four courses (12 credits) in English composition classes from the CSU schools (100,200,220,300) that I am using for a depth requirement. Will these classes concurrently fulfill the WER? Or will I have to use one for the WER and take another English clep?
2. For the Information Literacy requirement, does EC still (if they ever did) accept a graded paper? I have a fifteen page APA History 400 level paper with an A- from a CSU school. The course required a lot of research and "information literacy" to complete.
3. Four of my ten military credits are listed as vocational, will EC accept vocational credits as free electives?
Thanks in advance for your help. I hope maybe my questions will also help some one else in a similar predicament.

Hey Sgtmaj the English classes will complete the WER Requirement , you only needed three units of Eng 100 or better from a College to meet the requirement.
That History Paper will come in handy if you need that 1 unit of upper level credit for LA 494 or 496, You just send it in to the
LATEAM@EXCELSIOR.com ATTN Liberal Arts Mentors and they will evaluate it, but it must be a graded paper with comments and grade on it.
If you are using the Military option 1 , you will need to take 12 units with them or else they quit talking to you , until switch to option 2.
As for the Library/Biblio requirement use Penn Foster or a CC or spend the 225.oo with EC and be done in 45 mins.
I do not know if you can submit a paper or not with them on this requirement.
Good Luck!

Information Literacy can be finished in a day if you are diligent, but it costs over $200.
Excelsior does not grant credit for vocational credit.

Thanks for your replies. For those with further inquiries, this is from the LA catalog concerning WER vs distribution areas.
Requirements and Policies for Undergraduate Liberal Arts Degrees
4. Examinations or courses used to fulfill the Written English Requirement may not be used to satisfy the humanities distribution requirement...(Liberal Arts Catalog)
There is a way to get a waiver for the IL, but you have to be a criminal.

The academic advisor will ask the student to provide an official statement from the institution/agency to verify that he/she does not have access to the internet and therefore is a barrier to course completion.

Do Info lit at Penn Foster instead. Takes a few hours, and a load cheaper.
