Excelsior Masters
#1
Has any body here done the Exelsior Masters? What where your
costs? The program look interesting. There is a
thesis or project required. Did you do a thesis or
project?

I am interested also.
I want to do an mba in technology or an mis masters.
I am thinking of Fort Hays, Exelsior, or maybe TESC masters in management.
Another option is FSU online. I would like a program that has more testing and less writing preferably with unproctored tests.
BSBA CIS from TESC, BA Natural Science/Math from TESC
MBA Applied Computer Science from NCU
Enrolled at NCU in the PhD Applied Computer Science

Ryoder,

I know that TESC requires proctored exams with their undergrad courses and can't help but to imagine that would be the case with their MS Mgmt as well. I would imagine FL State would be the same. Excelsior doesn't require proctored exams, or at least didn't when I was taking undergrad MIS courses there in 2007. They did require projects, however, which were writing intensive. Good luck in your decision.
I m edumakated thanx to distunce lerning.

As much as I enjoyed EC for my undergrad, they are *way* too expensive for a Master's program. If you're going to pay that much, I'd say find a school that has name recognition. There are a lot of good DL MBA programs (including from state schools) that are quite a bit cheaper than EC, and may well be viewed better by employers.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Without tuition reimbursement I wouldn't have looked at them for undergrad coursework either. Way too many other options out there giving you the same thing for a lower price. One benefit was the unproctored exams, but still... could probably find that elsewhere for less.

Keep in mind those who want an MBA to check EC's credentials because they are not accredited by the two big MBA credentialing agencies - AACSB and ACBSP. They are a regionally accredited school, but their MBA program isn't accredited within the field. This will be a factor if you want to teach and can be a factor for some employers. EC will not point this out to you, so I mention it so you go in to any program fully informed. Good luck!

I was quated.$16,000 for an ECE Masters. With books I would
be looking at probably 20K. I like the program and the concept
of open book exams and an interesting thesis. It is just too
expensive. Is it a real Masters our a mill diploma?

To put this into perspective, I paid probably $14.5k, books and all, for my UIS MS. I did have proctored exams that added around $500 to the total.

It's a real masters. Regionally accredited school and everything.

I'm not sure why this question would have come up though.. Strange.
