Excelsior GRE Change.
#1
I have a friend who attempted to enroll in Excelsior today so that he would allowed to use the GRE exams. When he spoke to the admissions advisor however, he was told that they would only accept exams submitted before July 1st. Does anyone know any other information about this? I know several people have told me differently and i've looked over a few other threads, so i'm trying to find some more definative information. The names of anyone good to ontact at Excelsior would also be appreciated. I'm thinking this is just one advisor in error, but I need to confirm that. Since this is typed on a cell phone while sittin on the new orleans coast, please forguve the typos Wink

I called today and was unable to get any solid information. It seems to remain under discussion. I asked why they were considering no longer accepting the GRE subject exams. Apparently, someone (new) in the academic faculty feels that these exams might not be rigorous enough to justify the amount of credit given.

I'm guessing it would be hard to change such a person's mind, but nevertheless, we ought to try. The question is, how can we reach the appropriate people?

That's awfully strange. I asked the academic advisor team, who told me that enrollees before July 1st would be grandfathered into the old system. Also, they told me that it was not for a certainty that they policy would change, or if it did, exactly how it would change.

I enrolled last week to specifically grandfather myself in. I've since asked my advisor a question regarding a subject GRE that I am planning on taking this coming fall. She didn't say anything about the policy change. In fact, she gave me a pretty clear answer as to the score range of the mathematics GRE in response to my question concerning duplicative credit and the requirements for the math major.

So as of last week you could still lock yourself in. But keep this in mind: I created my free user account last year and got all of my transcripts through the unofficial evaluation back then too. So all I had to do was pay the bill, as they weren't waiting on anything else. I wouldn't think that would make-or-break the situation, but you never know.
