I just received a message from my EC adviser saying that I will be short 3 LL credits in Literature (my major) after I finish the last exams on my list.
Perplexed, I examined my latest status report. I scored high enough on the Literature in English GRE to earn 12 LL and 12 UL credits. Three of the Lower Level credits would duplicate with the Humanities CLEP.
I put my degree plan together on the assumption that EC would subtract the credits from the Humanities CLEP and give me the overlapping credits in my major. They subtracted the credits from my major, leaving the extra three credits under humanities (where I don't need them).
Am I just crazy, or might EC be willing to change this? Should I just suck up and take the extra class?
Thankye,
R.

I had a similar problem, and the adviser moved it for me into the correct bucket. Woo hoo, no new classes to take! They will want to help you, but if they can't you can always write a letter to the Dean with a reason on why you want the change.
Your request sounds reasonable to me.

I did not anticipate this twist. Definitely check with your advisor. Hopefully, they can rearrange the credits for you.
If not, would it be possible to drop the Humanities CLEP and take 1-2 other exams instead of needing a course for your major?
Let us know what happens.

According to my adviser, that is all I can do. And I got such a good score on that exam...
So - time to pick up a test ASAP. Any recommendations?

I know it is disappointing to lose credits like this. It is good that you can choose a course for your major or an unrelated exam.
Is it correct that you only need to replace 3 credits for this situation? (If not, I have other ideas.)
If so, CLEP Information Systems & Computer Applications is a good choice, since you have already taken DSST Intro to Computing. Double-check that you can still get credit for both. Here is my feedback (scroll down):

When I was creating a degree plan, Alissa recommended Intro to Law Enforcement for some breathing room.
When we were working on your degree plan, you eliminated these 4 exams:
Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, Ethics in America
Are you interested in taking any of these?

Yes you can get credit for the CLEP exam and the DSST exam(s) at EC, they both were excepted on my transcript.
