Does anyone know if Composition 1 & 2 are accepted as part of a depth in Communication at Excelsior?
I was hoping the following courses ( 3 credits each) would make up a communications depth:
Bus. Communication
Film & Literature (UL)
Comp. 1
Comp. 2

Composition is not communications. If the class couldn't be used to fulfill a major requirement in Communications, it's highly unlikely it would be acceptable to fulfill a depth requirement (which is essentially a minor).

Thanks Perrik.
Do you think Salesmanship or Advertising could be used towards a depth in Communications ?
I know they are essentially business courses but they also overlap into communications.
In my thinking it is like Organizational Behavior is considered a business course but counts towards a depth in Psychology.

The Communications/Public Relations guideline includes "Principles of Selling" as an elective example, so I think you could make a very good case for salesmanship and/or advertising classes as part of a Comm depth.
You'd have to use some of that salesmanship on your Excelsior advisor to get permission, of course.

ok, apparantly according to the advisor at EC, the only course (listed in post #1 of this thread) that is allowable towards a depth in communication , is business communications.
Even though a course such as salesmanship/advertising may be used as an elective in communications, they can not be used toward the depth.
Also, Composition is not an allowable course for any depth at EC.
