I'm not sure you're going to get an answer, unfortunately. Most people choose not to take this exam because it costs way more than other options that are available elsewhere.

If you've paid the $110+fees already, you should review their webpage for recommendations: https://www.excelsior.edu/exam/college-writing/ - Further to that, you can try OER resources such as MS/CLEP, Saylor, TECEP, and so on... I would have recommended you to take Sophia.org for $99/month and you can take additional courses for credit along with English.

I need to take college writing but I think I also need to get a certain amount of credits from excelsior
I didn’t pay for this exam yet. Any ideas where to get my college writing from that’s easier and then which exam to take to get the credits?

Are you getting an Excelsior degree? You only NEED to take 7 credits from Excelsior: capstone, cornerstone, information literacy. If you're not getting an Excelsior degree, what degree are you going after?

Where would you recommend the easiest transferable college writing?

Sophia is one, but not really recommended because of the difficulty of the courses and the massive amount of work involved.
SDC has a couple of courses for writing, but I can't tell you what they are because I'm getting a server error when visiting (haven't seen that before!). You can check for yourself here: https://study.com/college/school/excelsior-college.html Less work than Sophia courses, but still takes some time.
Finally, there are the courses from Olivet Nazarene: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Ol...University $150 for each course, post-paid. Each one only requires 1 or 2 papers. I would suggest getting permission from your advisor to transfer these in.

I was going to take the college writing exam from excelsior but I don’t know how to prepare and I’m scared for it. What is the best easiest way to get the equivalent credits that could transfer to excelsior?

I can't remember if Excelsior will accept the CLEP College Composition for English (I know TESU does).  But if they do, you might seriously consider taking the free CLEP prep course at Modern States. If you complete it, they'll actually pay for your CLEP exam.

Assuming you have reasonable English skills, College Comp is pretty easy to pass. It's multiple choice, basically correcting grammar errors and badly phrased sentences.  There's a short essay that takes about 30 minutes. They give you a couple of short essays to read, and you write a short essay that synthesizes info from the essays you read.  It really isn't difficult for anyone with reasonable English skills.

I can't think of a much easier way to earn the credits than that.  For my money, taking an English class and having to write a ton of papers is a whole lot more work than taking an exam.  And if you fail, the worst that happens is you lost a couple hours taking the test... the prep you do will help you prepare for whatever class you take.

If you really are deathly afraid of exams, then there are classes at Sophia, SDC, and several other sources. I can't remember offhand what Excelsior accepts, but I'm sure others can.

Excelsior does NOT accept the CLEP. They should accept:

Sophia English Comp I & II (not really recommended)
SDC English 104: College Composition I & English 105: College Composition II
TECEPs ENC-101 & ENC-102
