Enrolled Option Gone From the Tuition Comparison Chart

AngelaP Wrote:This is from the TESU website:

"What does my GPA mean on my academic evaluation?
“Overall GPA Met” – YES means that you have above the 2.0 necessary for your overall GPA; NO means that you are below an overall 2.0.

“TESU GPA” reflects the GPA of all TESU coursework taken. This must be at least a 2.0 for graduation for undergraduate students, and a 3.0 for graduate students."

The overall GPA met is usually from the classes you transfer in. In order to have a TESU GPA you would need to take a class with them.

There is a nomenclature issue here. There are two assessments you can view in myedison -- "program evaluation" and "academic evaluation". They both basically have the same information, but terminology is mixed up.

The "program evaluation" which I provided a screenshot of above has "Institutional GPA: No requirement, MET" and "Overall GPA: 2.0 requirement, not met".

Meanwhile, the "academic evaluation" has a "TESU GPA: _____" and "Overall GPA Met: YES" with no mention of a required GPA for either one.

It's enough to make you headdesk yourself into a coma.

Won't the new student cornerstone satisfy the GPA?

It should, but my catalog doesn't have it. Maybe they will amend the catalog and add it. I did respond to the advising email asking if that course was now required for me or not.

Right now I'm thinking I need to enroll in some 1cr course ASAP in order to a) Meet the (new?) GPA requirement, and b) "lock in" on my current catalog so I'm not subjected to the new ASBA capstone requirement.

I can verify that you CAN enter EO right now
. I paid for it today 3/24/16 and asked TESU to apply it retroactively to the date I registered for my first course rather than set it to today. The start date of EO is up to you going back 90 days, but you can't buy it after 3/31.

So, I'm about midway to completion. I just applied to TESU this week. I will probably fall under a new catalog at this point. Unless something drastically changes to the catalog, the real issue with these changes seem to be about money. I'm not so far in that I couldn't rearrange my planned courses list. Now I'll have to add the cornerstone, but if there is a GPA requirement, that course should cover that.

For a midway person like me, anybody see a downside to these changes? I'll now be paying the residency waiver because I had planned on the enrolled options. So, thats a win. Downsides??

I get many of you who were "this close" got thrown for a loop, and that sucks. Hopefully you can remain grandfathered.

I didn't know you could view this stuff in MyEdison. I've been accessing it through Student Services. Thanks for that tip.
BSBA/Accounting TESU (2016). MSA UIUC (2018).

Need help with portfolios? I earned 18 credits at TESU through portfolio evaluations. Nine of those were for upper level accounting courses. My advice for PLA/portfolios: TESU portfolio tips The first post has the Portfolio Checklist I created. Page ten has the actual narrative I wrote to receive credit for ACC-440.

Using Straighterline's Financial Accounting as a substitute for TESU's Intermediate Accounting I? Don't do it if you are an accounting major and/or want your CPA license. They are not the same course and I think TESU has erred in accepting the SL course as Intermediate I. I made this discovery here: Intermediate Accounting II.

For you, it actually makes sense financially to switch to the new plan w/Residency Waiver, and take the Cornerstone. And being only halfway done, you can accommodate the changes.

For someone who is much further along, it might not make sense. With the change in catalog on April 1, they might change more requirements than we know about at this time. So I wouldn't take the chance if you could still enroll now and were much closer to graduation, and needed to lock in a catalog.

So the catalog is changing 4/1, but the cornerstone kicks in 5/25... so assuming the catalog doesn't really make my particular degree more difficult, would I be able to switch from the EO that i signed up for this month to the PPC/waiver option in April, before May, and get the cheaper rate but avoid the cornerstone?

No. The EO has a 50% refund penalty within 30 days and 100% after that. I'm very close to graduation, need actual TESU courses because there are no cheaper UL options, and need the degree ASAP. It makes 100% sense for me to buy EO. Maybe not for you, but we would need to see the new catalog.

Wouldn't it fall under this?

Quote:Change of Enrollment Plans

Students will be able to request a change to their enrollment plan, Comprehensive Tuition Plan, or Per Credit Tuition Plan, within ninety days from the start of their current year of service. The written requests must be sent to bursar@tesc.edu. Once received the Bursar's Office will change the enrollment plan and recalculate any tuition and fees if necessary.
