Ed4Online / Ed4Credit ?
#11
So here is an update on the course. I completed the course work last week and attempted to take the final Sunday night. They use proctoru, which I have used serveral time without a problem, but proctoru did not have the correct password for the final. According to proctoru it was ed4credit's fault, so I contacted my advisor to resolve the problem. She replied to my email with in a few hours stating the problem is resolved. I have rescheduled the final for Saturday, hopefully all will go well this time.

Below are what I believe to be the pros and cons of the course:

Pros:
-easy to enroll
-comes with book and ebook
-course work follows book very well (I used the book exclusively for 3/4 of the work)
-graded chapter exams, must make 70 but unlimited retakes (all multiple choice, no papers to write)

Cons:
-received conflicting information (from two different advisors) on how many points final is worth (it looks like it is worth 1/10 of final grade but cannot find it documented)
-proctor password issue described above

Hi All,
Sorry for any and all confusion on our website. I just found this thread. Yes, we are new to the ACE accreditation world and have had a few glitches. We have offered non-credit courses for over 7 years but the ACE for-credit courses website and processes are new for our company. All our courses are $300 and include everything you need (i.e. books, materials, proctored final, career coaching, course mentor, etc.). Many courses also include online tutoring. You have access to your course once you sign up for 4 months. We hope we have solved all our website issues and I am available to answer any questions you have about the process.

Thanks,
Tricia Seymour

Thank you Tricia. I wonder if you saw the questions on this thread and are able to address them? For instance, what percentage of the overall grade is the final grade worth?

Sure thing! I forgot to mention that all course now have a syllabus in PDF on the course page of our website - https://ed4credit.com/courses . That should give you all the information about the course.

The final exam is equal to one test, so if there are 9 module exams then the final the exam is averaged as the 10th test. All module exams can be taken as many times as you need to, we see this as a learning activity. Once you make a 70% on a module test the next module will open but you can go back and re-take it as many times are you want to. The system will give you the highest grade you make. The final is done only once because you must use ProctorU but you only have to make a 50% in order to pass it and have it averaged into the final grade. Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have any other questions.

BTW we have lowered the price, just a little, to $295 USD and everything is still included. Also, I will be posting a coupon to this thread in a few minutes. Smile

Good to know. I am leaning towards taking Aging & Society once I am done with my current study.com courses.

ed4credit is significantly higher per credit ($92/credit) than study.com ($25/credit when using their coupon code and taking two courses a month), but you do have an offering that no one else seems to currently have. This Aging & Society course may be useful to those, like myself, who are working on a Social Science BA and are looking for UL SocSci courses.

This is the other reason I would consider taking the Aging & Society course -- having the freedom to actually learn the subject matter without focusing solely on cramming for the final is a HUGE plus, and one of the reasons I LOVE SL's courses so much.

If you get 100% on the quizzes leading up to the final. Just like Study.com's new grading.
