Hi all - long time no see!!!!!
Hubby is out of work after 10 years at the same job. He never needed a degree and in spite of my nagging never got one. Well, now suddenly the job market is telling him he needs one!! So we are looking at the absolute QUICKEST path to a degree. Some sort of business management would be the best and we're looking to enroll him in a university while he is job hunting so he can put "degree anticipated" on his resume as he does the job search. Being enrolled WHILE he is job hunting is REALLY important to the process, so please keep this in mind!
I am old and out of practice at this and obviously got my degree when things were different. I'm thinking after doing a TON of reading on the site that UMPI looks like the best option since we want him enrolled right away. Though please do tell me if I'm wrong.
What he needs is a degree plan that assumes he's enrolled and since he's unemployed, he has the whole day to work on study, but he's terrible at math. His experience begs management and business, though so what would you guys suggest? All of this Sophia and Study stuff came out after I graduated but I'm willing to learn. He's also willing to just do the classes at the actual university too. He has a handful of CLEP and DSST tests (that he did when I pestered him years ago) along with a couple of old community college courses, but let's just assume he's starting from zero.
HELP.

There are about a million guides on here for Sophia-->UMPI for whatever degree you want.

You've identified a great choice and approach. You can dig in on UMPI material on the DegreeForum wiki starting here and here. (A few points may be dated.)

Thanks I really appreciate it. I was looking more for something that would work better while he's enrolled and the issue with these is that you have to complete the Sophia courses before enrolling. We're trying to get him enrolled NOW so that we could list the degree as "in progress" ideally because he's already enrolled, and we wouldn't be enrolled if he's just doing the Sophia courses.
But in my digging on the site, I haven't really found any good ideas for degree plans that have you concurrently enrolled and also taking the sophia/straighterline/clep/dsst/etc credits because it has never made financial sense to do so..... so perhaps my question doesn't really have a real answer.
Thanks so much for your kind response.

UMPI is friendly to transferring in outside credit while enrolled!
I believe it's been reported that it's possible to sign up at UMPI but defer to a future term the term start date at which the student is paying for a subscription and taking courses from UMPI. Details of how this is done and the conditions allowed, in particular how far to the future it can be deferred, you might best ask someone knowledgeable there.

Since he already has some college credits (CC, CLEP, DSST) he should pick a UMPI degree and get the process started so he can start as soon as possible. It is so common here that people wait to apply, thinking it is almost instant for approval and evaluation; it's not - it takes time. UMPI will most certainly be his best option these days. I'd suggest he apply for the BABA M&L, as it is known as the business admin degree to get through quickest - wiki page here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...egree_Plan - can always choose another degree once the application process is completed. Then jump right into Sophia (see wiki for course recommendations).

ooooh ok this is EXACTLY what we would want to do. Get enrolled like yesterday and then ideally start taking the Sophia classes if possible. We've reached out and will have an advisor contacting him soon so will find out soon if this is possible. I LOVE the idea of signing up and deferring to a future term. Thanks for the great idea!!!!!

Thank you so much. It's great seeing these responses. It's been hard having him lose a great job after 10 years only to have the door slammed on jobs he's overqualified for because he doesn't have a degree. You guys are really giving me a lot of hope today. These replies mean so much.
