I reviewed how to do the MLA process and did a few quotes according to what I have read. No need to footnote or quote. Just refer to the article and make sure you reference what point you used. The test program does not have the prompts for it. No need for references. You are given 2 shorts articles to read and review and write about them. Like I said, I was strong on the proposal and weak on the A & L. They even give you a printout of what your weak or strong points were to each essay question. If I can pass anyone can pass and I suck at writing.

I read through the content guide, called Excelsior and the Pearson Vue center with the questions below that pertain to the exam. Everyone has been helpful but unsure. The only thing that the Pearson Vue associate was able to confidently inform me was that I will be provided with a pencil and paper. I am scared to schedule the exam until I find the answers. I am sure I am overthinking, but I just want to be prepared and somewhat confident before going in.

For example, the Proposal essay... Will I be writing a proposa LETTER, like on the content guide? Will it be necessary to format the essay as a letter with the date, my address, the recipient, title, company, and address at the top left, with the heading "Dear Sir Or Madam? Will I be expected to salivate and write my name like a letter or will the proposal be an essay?...or is the main concern the CONTENT of the letter with a title...and not so much addresses, greetings and salutations?

Also, for the "analysis and response" essay using MLA format...will I be expected to include in the top left the date, my name, the course name, an instructors name (which is MLA, but being its exam-based, that would not apply to me...should I make one up or skip that)? Or will that already be assumed and my focus will be on just the title and content?

I am afraid if I use the structured MLA formatting elements prior to my content and it is not necessary, it will flag as a series of errors, but I am afraid if I do NOT use those formalities, the absence of them will flag as significant errors.

Additionally, What are the formatting features associated with the writing program used? Will there be a formatting tool? I understand with MLA, the title is to be centered, the content to be double spaced, and paragraphs with an indent. Will there be an associated dictionary/thesaurus/spell check feature? Are we able to inert the cursor to add words without typing over anything? (The college network did not allow me to insert the curser...if I wanted to add or delete anything...I had to delete the WHOLE paragraph to get to it! banghead

I have a year subscription to the MyAccess, College Edition. It has been helpful, but it does not give me any "proposal" or "analysis and response" prompts. I add my own submission for the proposal under "persuasive", but I do not have a drop-down for a letter. MyAccess automatically formats my submissions, therefore it does not clue me in if my formatting is incorrect.

For Analysis and Response, do they give us 2 articles of opposing views to respond to like on the example on the content guide?
