Why does it seem to me that EC is all about the money?

Thanks very much, barcotta and originalbigjim.

I will look into your suggestions on the info lit class and the exams, barcotta. And you're right, I do tend to over-analyze things, and unfortunately I have had a couple of the Big Things in life go the wrong way for me, which makes me gun shy. Anyone who had gone through a bankruptcy because of $80,000 in medical bills (after a lifetime of perfect credit) would tend to be cautious when it comes to money. But you're right too, originalbigjim, this kind of investment in myself will likely pay off, despite the momentary uncertainty.

As I post this, Hurricane Gustav is making landfall in Louisiana. I hope the damage is lighter than expected and that there is no loss of life. Thankfully the evacuation went well. This makes all the problems I have had getting my degree meaningless by comparison.

I've been to New Orleans three times since Katrina, and it has come to be a city that I love. Hang in there, Gulf Coast!

I also felt nervous about which credits would transfer since many of them came from schools in Canada. I have a couple of suggestions for you that worked for me.
1) By investigating, you can determine where your credits are going to fit. There is no secret formula that schools use. Excelsior lists what type of classes will meet the upper level requirement. Every school has the opportunity to make changes to the unofficial evaluation but that should not be that factor that keeps you from graduating. Be prepared to take an extra test.

2) If you are committed to getting your degree, you will do whatever is necessary. Get a second job for a month if you need to, or save money on other expenses.

3) Plan the overall goal but focus on the baby steps. It is very possible that you will run into road blocks- find a way around them. (Don’t get me started on my road blocks; we will be here all day, Big Grin ) and “buck-up.” ( I mean that in the nicest way.)

There is so much good information on this site. It's also a great place to get ideas.
I wish you good luck. You are soo close....

Maybe the "coming soon" UExcel college writing is going to replace that one.

I found this on the UExcel website:
Look for UExcel examinations in College Writing and
