I'm preparing for ECE English Composition, and I tried a couple of practice essays on myAccess.. the one where you write a menu for a dinner you're preparing, and the one where you write a letter to the local school board regarding advertising on school grounds. I scored a 4.4 on the first, which I can live with, but a 3.0 on the second! I couldn't believe it, as I felt that was the much better written one of the two. Does anyone have any examples of essays they wrote on myAccess that manage to score high, so I can compare and see where I went wrong? Both of my practice essays were not that long, between 350-400 words, so I am wondering if that's what the problem was. I'm going to go over myAccess' critiquing system a little bit more later, but if anyone has any good examples, I would appreciate it!!! :p

You can see examples of essays at different grade levels in myAccess. When you're looking at the document editor for the Assignment, there's a menu/button at the bottom called 'REFERENCE'. Under that menu is a link called 'WRITER'S MODEL'. In that page you can select what grade level to view an example essay.
Remember that it's not going to check your sources, so just make up quotes from imaginary people, magazines, doctors, scientist. It likes to see you back up your claims.
I took College Writing which required 3 essays in 3 hours, not sure what Engligh Composition is looking for. If it's anything like College Writing practice writing an essay under the time limit so you have a chance to check your spelling. I found that College Writing was more of a speed writing exam, rather than quality of writing. I got a B because I ran out of time. If I had another 15 minutes I would've been able to check what I wrote and correct spelling errors.
Good Luck!

Awesome, thanks for the info Couch Potato, and the example! I think this will help me immensely. I was planning on taking the exam this past Saturday, and rescheduled for this coming Saturday.. but I think I might push it back a few more weeks, just to be on the safe side. :p
Thanks again!!!!!!!!
