ECE Abnormal Psychology - Important Update
#1
Hi All,

Anyone in the midst of studying for EC's Abnormal Psych exam should take note that as of October 1st, EC has updated its study guide to include the new DSM-5 classifications. The study guide is very ambiguous - it uses the "new" names for conditions - for example, conversion disorder is now "functional neurological disorder", however, the sample test remains unchanged and still references some of the old DSM-IV-TR terms. Be sure to use the 12th edition of the recommended Abnormal Psychology text by Kring as it includes the new terminology.

I'm studying for this exam right now and am concerned - will the actual test questions reference both sets of material??? :ack:

Thanks for posting this! I just saw it. I've been studying for this exam too. I've been listening to the lecture from Abnormal psychology lecture free mp3 download daily. If anyone knows of good study resources/lectures etc that are updated to DSM-5, please post! Does anyone know if InstaCert will be updating their materials for the change?

Also, OP, when do you plan to take the exam? I'm nervous since I've never taken an ECE. I'd like to know how it goes.

I should have asked about this, but what about taking the TECEP Abnormal Psychology exam? It's less expensive. Does anyone know the difference in difficulty, & whether the TECEP Abnormal Psychology exam is being based off of DSM-4 or DSM-5?

If you do a search I recall one person who did a brief review of the TECEP Abnormal Psychology exam.
