Well it's over! Just got home from the interview for the "dream job" referenced here:
http://www.degreeforum.net/off-topic/143...m-job.html
In this case having the degree was just a check box. I wasn't asked anything about what I studied or how I got the degree...they just wanted to know that I had one.
Interview went well I thought. It was board style with 5 people sitting around a conference table scribbling notes each time I answered a question. About 20 questions about strengths/weaknesses, how are you prepared to lead the organization, ever managed a budget, etc...
Since it is for a government agency they opened the interview for the general public to watch !!! So there were 5 folks just sitting there not allowed to ask questions or make comments, they just wanted to come hang out and watch the applicants sweat a little!

I just kept swiveling my head around the room making eye contact, kindo cool that the average citizen can show up and do that...but still a bit wierd for the applicant.
Overall it was a worthwhile use of my time, even if there is no forthcoming job offer I'm that much better prepared for the next interview.
They stated they hope to reach a decision today and call the lucky new hire. Im certainly not holding my breath...but I still can't stop checking the phone to make sure it's working to insure I don't somehow miss the call !!! LOL

You have such a wonderful attitude that it can only help in this whole process. As you said in your previous post - who knows, they make choose the interim person for the position but then that means their position is open. Sometimes a "newbie" is a better person for that job, as they don't have to unlearn anything.hilarious
Keep us advised.

Sounds like you went through a good old fashioned Army Promotion board with the Sergeant Major at the head of the table and all First Sergeants sitting around asking questions and the recorder off to the side not asking questions.
Hope you get the call here pretty soon. Good luck,

This was a tough interview to say the least. It appears you handled it really well. Hopefully you will have good news in the end.

Nothing is ever wasted. You've gone through a tough (and weird!) interview. You've strengthened your interviewing skills. While I hope that you get the job, it sounds like you've gotten a lot out of the interview process. Best of luck.
