Hey Guys,
with this post I wish to keep updated all of you, ask for feedback and, maybe, help someone. The idea is to give for each exam my personal evaluation in terms of time spent and difficulty.
Preface
I am Italian, so English is a second language for me. I am quite strong in Math (I studied Computer Science Engineering and passed all the math, physics and basic computer exams) and I have a good background in Marketing. I would like to pursue a bachelor in BA with Marketing Concentration and later try to enter in a good MBA program.
I am working full time in China and I will study 2 hours per day from Monday to Friday and 12 to 16+ on the weekends.
Currently I am waiting for the evaluation of my previous academic career from AACRAO.
Exams
ALEKS - Intro to Statistics
Difficulty: 5/10
Time Spent: One week (18 hours)
Grade: 72%
I finished this course in 18hours. I have followed the suggestions I found in this forum - print all the materials and examples in .pdf format and read it carefully. Pay attention first of all to the question, read it twice or more. Google the question and you will find similar exercises...
SL - English Composition I
Difficulty: 6/10
Time Spent: 15 days (50+ hours)
Grade: ?
English Composition I is a very long exam. I like SL format because is completely self-paced. The course is articulate in 12 topics: 13 quizzes and 5 essays including a final research paper. The minimum words for the essay vary from 500 to 1250 for the final paper. Lots of writing is involved but, as non-native speaker, I found really helpful learning how to write properly an essay in English (I never did before).
The book is okay although I feel is not a must-have for this course.
I am waiting for the evaluation of my drafts and get the final grade.
My next exam will be SL - English Composition II.
Cheers,
Daniele
