In that case, it would be unlikely that you will be able to take the Accuplacer and place into College Algebra. Clovis is very strict about this requirement.
ALEKS works for a lot of people (I use ALEKS for a supplement for the Business Stats courser I teach), but ALEKS transferability is limited. The Big 3 will accept it, but I don't know who else. A course from a community college will transfer easier.

Thanks for all your ideas! I am going to look into ALEKs. I don't know if it will be transferable to my school, so I'll have to check that out. I may just take a community college class over the summer.
I'm feeling much better about the whole thing today. It was the first CLEP I failed, but I wasn't upset as I thought I would be. A good night's sleep does wonders.

I'm all for Aleks. If you really know nothing- that's exactly where it starts you. I am completely mathphobic and put this off for 30 years. I got to 70% in beginning Algebra in 21 days- and I was surprised how much of what I learned in HS came back to me as I progressed.
Now if I could just do as well in Statistics...:ack:

Thanks Shawn. I might use ALEKS to help me prepare for the CLEP. If I have trouble, I can always go to my tutor.

My take on ALEKS is this, unless you are dead sure you are going to use ALEKS for the "Big 3", is that you should either CLEP or take the math course. ALEKS is a great tool and it will work for the Big 3 - but the transerability is limited. The College Algebra CLEP or a class at a community college will transfer easier then ALEKS will. Not knocking ALKES, but that's reality.

I have not tried ALEKS yet, but I am looking forward to it. A lot of members of this forum have successfully worked through it on their own. It seems to work in a step-by-step process. There is a free trial, so you could see if you like it.
LOL - Don't feel bad for my tutor. He's a trader for a major company, plus he teaches online courses at a college. He works in my building, and I see him almost everyday anyway, so he'll be fine. And as I've said before, I will use him when I get stuck (which I'm sure I will get stuck).
