Welcome back!

I've been through a similar shock and will not pretend that I am good at coping with this kind of change. I think it is a lot easier to move forward with these new policies, when you don't know about the old ones for comparison. Many of the changes are probably related to accreditation renewal. Despite that, the Big 3 are still the most flexible and generous college choices. Except for the capstone course, there are several degrees that can be completed through credit-by-exam.

I do recommend using this as motivation to finish sooner rather than later. Not finishing your bachelor's degree is NOT an option!

It is just time to look at all of your degree plans again at each of the Big 3 to find the best path for you. As you know, you will continue to find a lot of help and support on this forum for that!

Hey Kitty welcome back. All I can say to you from "One Kitty to Another Kitty" just do it. Be it at TESC, COSC they will take your FEMA by the way, or Excelsior. Just do it. Get a new evaluation done and be resolved to face it no matter what it is. COSC takes some DSST exams at upper level that the other two schools don't. Killer you can do this. Might be a bit different than you planned but you are to close not to finish. Let's also remember the CLEP exams that are worth 6 credits each. That can help you with those free electives that went missing at TESC. Just do it Kitty.....just do it.

Some other changes at EC:

Excelsior has expanded the number of DSSTs accepted for UL credit, so they could be used with the capstone course to complete all 30 UL needed for a BSLS.

Here is a list:

http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...post140082

And check the catalog called Using Exams to Complete Your Excelsior College Degree. (This used to be called the Student Guide to Credit by Exam.)
https://www.excelsior.edu/469

They have also lowered the price of many ECE exams, which are now called UExcel. The new price is much more comparable to CLEP and DSST.

UExcel and some DSST will provide grades, too.

I know that this seems like a huge roadblock now, but if new students can still complete their degrees through credit-by-exam, so can you.

You guys are the best....
I really appreciate it all.
Because of everyone's encouragement, I am done licking my wounds lol, and I'm gonna go for the BA.
I know I will be even more proud that, despite the bumps in the road, I was able to do it, and not back down.
Thank you all, yet again lol. Much love to all my fellow online classmates! Confusedeeya:

PS- Thanks for all the welcome backs! I would never have been able to come this far without degreeforum and everyone on it.

I just get warm fuzzies reading this thread. This forum is so much more cooperative, helpful, and the least hostile of all forums I've ever been on. I love how people express themselves here in a way that is respectful and productive.

It's been a long time since I've thought of the warm fuzzies/cold pricklies analogy. lol

OP, it sounds like you are finding your way. I've been where you are...kind of.

I had 45 credits that I wanted to transfer to a new school (out of CA and into NC). Because I had moved, even though the courses were online, the old school wanted me to pay out of state tuition. So transferring was very necessary from a financial standpoint. When I transferred, I was told by the academic adviser that the courses would transfer but I had to get approval from the chair of the foreign language department. So, I emailed her my transcripts, copied my adviser and she emailed me in about 2 weeks and approved my request. There were some issues with the system taking my foreign language (Farsi) so at the end of the process I could see on my transcript that they had substituted Spanish courses and there was an "equivalency" note in comments.

One day, about 3 months later, I logged into the portal to view my transcript and all of those credits were gone. Simultaneously almost I received an email from an administrator stating that the foreign language chair had "no authority" to give me credit for those courses because the foreign language was not in their course library. In addition there were numerous DANTES exams I had taken while in the military and they wouldn't accept several of those. When it was all said and done I started all over with just 3 measly credits. Talk about defeated! I did a lot of wound licking to be sure...but after I was finished, I was able to complete all of the CLEP tests you see in my signature in one year and completed my AA in one year. It was frustrating to know that I had those un-applied credits on my transcript (they still showed up in an unapplied section). However, it all worked out since COSC decided to accept all of them. It meant I could complete my BS in just 1 spring semester and 1 summer semester.

In your case, I would submit all transcripts again and go with the school that gives you the best offer if time and cost are the most important to you. I wish you well!
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.
