I think the best advice would be to think about your end goals. If you do plan on going to grad school then you may want to put in extra effort. There has been at least one person who lamented not putting more effort into their Sophia classes because they didn't think it'd matter later.

It absolutely can.

Always telling people to rush through and not think at all about the future at all is bad, bad advice. Especially when we don't know what a person wants a degree for or what school they're planning to attend. Sometimes, people want a "quick degree" so that they can get a Master's as soon as possible. Maybe they can get a 70% in SDC classes with 0 study but they could get 80 or 90 with 5 hours of study. Is it worth it to put in those extra study hours? Maybe!

Brandman is sometimes suggested for things like their BSIT. I would hate to find out that someone here was unable to get a Brandman degree after being told that their SDC classes NEVER matter.

I kind of go by what they say in their posts - if they say they just want a degree for XYZ" and say nothing about another degree, then I'm not going to tell them to try for high ACE scores.  If they say they want a grad degree, then depending on where, I guess you could tell them to worry about it.  But generally, no.  I mean, if they can't go to Brandman for a BSIT, I guess there are like 5 other options that will work just fine.

Brandman and a few programs may look at the GPA and require those from ACE sources, but a majority would not. I would just apply to the ones you want for the Masters programs, many are semi-competitive and many more are non-competitive. You decide on which Masters to go with, if you need a better GPA, then work towards it. Otherwise, a Big 3 undergrad and CBE graduate degree is sufficient for most students. If you're applying to the better known schools or more competitive ones, I rather you take the courses at a college/university for the GPA and learning experience.
