Does TESU typically take 25 days to review transcripts?
#11
dfrecore Wrote:They normally take the full 25 business days from the day you apply to complete the eval. So, if you applied on 11/1, then even if they received your transcripts by 11/10, they still wouldn't have your eval completed until 12/6.

Keep in mind, they change the "25 business days" thing occasionally, so that could change. Did they give you a time frame?

Also, you probably won't see if they "begin" your eval, you will just see a completed eval when it's done.

Also, you could definitely start on classes that you 100% for certain need:
1) Something for the Info Lit requirement, like World Religions (DSST, SL, Study.com), A&I Lit (CLEP) or Tech Writing (DSST, TECEP, Study.com)
2) An Ethics course, the free one is good: Insurance Ethics
3) something for the Civic Engagement requirement, like American Government (CLEP, SL, Study.com) or Comparative Politics (Saylor, TECEP)
4) some UL courses you need (unless you think any of your courses will come in as UL - you had to have taken them at a 4-yr college, and they have to be considered UL at that college): Managerial/Corporate Comm (TECEP/Saylor), Business Comm (SL), Marketing Comm (TECEP), Org Behavior (DSST, SL, Study.com), Substance Abuse (DSST), Vietnam War (DSST, Study.com), Soviet Union (DSST), MIS (DSST), Abnormal Psych (TECEP, Study.com), Pathophysiology (Study.com), Microbiology (Study.com, SL), Research Methods in Psych (Study.com), Social Psychology (Study.com) - I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones off the top of my head for a BALS.

Where is the free ethics course? I did not see Corporate Communications on Saylor? Not a 300 level class anyway. COMM 411 is the only UL Communications class I see on Saylor.org. Is that ok because it's a 400 level class and not a 300 level? Are there any other study sites for UL communications classes you can suggest to obtain credit?

Not only does it take weeks, but that's not the end. Then you need to schedule appointments with a counselor to see what they say you need to do, my first one took a week to book. I am still ironing out details. Confusedhrugs:

I can't imagine talking to a TESU counselor! They're morons. If you have a good plan from this forum, skip the counselor and just move on with your plan!

Free ethics course (don't do the $5 one, that isn't ACE-approved): Preserve the trust on which insurance transactions are based with an understanding of ethics

Saylor has BUS210: Corporate Comm - it comes in to TESU as MAN-373, but will work in the Comm AOS.

Talking with an advisor is recommended by TESU but not required. I prefer emailing academic advising, it is much easier. Once the eval is complete if there are any errors you can email academic advising. You can also have them preplan classes. The 1st eval is sometimes completed sooner. When transferring credit the only course code that counts is the one TESU assigns. Not all Saylor courses will be accepted for credit, only the ACE or NCCRS approved courses.

You can try scheduling appointments with TESU if you want, but honestly when DegreeForum exists it seems like a waste of time. Over here people post how to get free/inexpensive/low-cost credits, reviews on courses, customized degree plans, and a lot more.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if some TESU staff search and find posts on this forum to help other students too. Wink

Do you know where I could find out what Saylor courses are accepted for credit? Do you know if I could take COMM 411 in PR to fulfill another credit in my Communication requirement?

Just from personal experience...Once i had my call with a counselor, everything went much faster for me. I was able to communicate with them directly and get my questions answered and adjustments made to my plan usually within 24 hours. I found the call to help speed things up for me tremendously.

just some additional insight.
