I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but i never tested out of classes before so i really don't know how the grading works. I have a decent GPA and don't want to mess it up because i tried to test out.
Thanks

Exams not accepted for credit cannot affect GPA. However, at some schools (including Excelsior), a low pass on the 2-digit score exams is actually worse than failing, at least for GPA purposes.

Your test scores - ACT/AP/CLEP/DSST/SAT - are your business. If you don't send the score report to a school, the school will never know. When you order a CLEP or DSST transcript, they only report the scores you authorize them to send. If you don't want the school to know what you made, just don't send it to them. Generally speaking schools don't care and there are no adverse academic consequences to a failing credit by examination score. This isn't worth worrying about.

I don't think there are any exams left that are anything other than C/NC or P/F on college transcripts. The last few DSST's that COSC provided grades for are no longer available.

So DSST scores applied to Excelsior only show as Pass/Fail - not a letter grade? I would love to eliminate my "letter-grade stress syndrome":willynilly: with a relaxing P/F exam!

That part of their website is conveniently down at the moment (btw, how can they be so big and have such a terrible website?) but last I checked, DSSTs on the 2-digit scale were all assigned letter grades.

As of 1 Jan the last of the 2-digit DSST's have been pulled and can not be taken. I've looked, but nobody I've found offers letter grades for the three digit exams.

Thanks for the reply everyone, it let's me breathe a little knowing i can fail the exam and let it not affect my GPA. I'm a little paranoid because in order to graduate i need 18 credits if i can knock out a class or two it makes my final semester much more bearable.

Good point. Good thing I got my easy A's out of them a couple years ago!

Excelsior Credit-By-Exam Catalog - pages 28-29, all three-digit DSST's are pass/fail (need score of 400+ to pass).
