I am excited to start. My goal is to get this done in 12 months (2 terms). I know it won't be easy but I'm going to do whatever it takes to stick to that timeframe.
You might be wise to bring in some additional courses before you enroll, just to be able to complete the degree in that 2-terms timeframe you've set for yourself. We can help you figure out what to take if you want.

Btw Rowan....is your son researching HR certifications? While the degree is essential, so are the certifications.

Thank you for the offer. I will make another thread about this. Definitely will take you up on that. Since you are so close to finishing, i would like to ask you something. Have you studied for any of the certifications like Assurance of learning (SHRM) or aPHR (HRCI)? I only mention those as those are the carts for someone with little to no experience in HR like myself.

I have many years of HR experience, but no plans to go back to work yet (I'm a SAHM, formerly homeschooling but not any longer, and thinking I may go back to work when my youngest starts driving). So, I do not want to get certified right now, simply because that is going to be the thing that shows that I am current on laws. I will probably go get certified a year before I plan to get a job.
One of the important things to do - figure out what you want to do, what kinds of jobs you are looking at, and then look to see which cert is more important. For me, it may not be either of the 2, since I worked (and want to work again) in compensation management, meaning I will need my CCP instead. That's what I mean about figuring out which certs are required for the job you want. Also, different parts of the country value the certs differently. So check on that before you get one or the other, because it does matter.

Not at this time - he mainly wanted a business degree but decided the specialization wouldn't hurt. He's not settled on a career path yet and hopes to do some interning once he graduates.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1
Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of Marketing, Corporate Communication
Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this)
ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra
Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management
Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics
Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems
Sophia: Project Management
WGU: Bachelors in HR Management
Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

You can also check my signature for the courses my son transferred in - he completed 45 credits at Straighterline in 3 months, and by doing so he was able to get a $200 tuition discount and earn a $2,000 Straighterline WGU scholarship. Might be worth considering. I have heard nightmare tales about some of WGU's courses being needlessly difficult - particularly Algebra, Intro to Business (which shocked me), and the first science course.

Rowan, how did you and your son go about transferring ALEKS credits in? Did you just send WGU the ACE transcript? It's a heck of a lot cheaper than SL, so it may be worth my time if it's a relatively easy process.

Yes, ALEKS goes to ACE. And, good news, this is one of the providers that WGU accepts for certain.

Good to know. My advisor is...clueless about what transfers and what doesn't. Even with the WGU/SL partnership, he wasn't sure if it was valid.

Yeah, the one I'm working with for my husband is a waste of my time as well. Useless.
