Degree planning advice needed
#1
A couple of years ago, through the help of this site, I earned an AA BOG degree from WVNCC.  I was hoping to progress on to a Bachelor's and then life happened.  I am back in the place of researching, but I'm realizing some of the requirements have changed and I may need to consider different paths.

I still don't really know what I want to do when I grow up. Big Grin But I do want to have a degree.  I previously worked in the travel industry for about 15 years and I am currently working as an executive assistant in education.  I have thought of going for anything from a business degree to liberal arts to a social sciences degree.  I feel a little intimidated by the capstone, but it seems that's mostly unavoidable.  At this point, I am pretty open to what is most straightforward and least expensive.

I would love some help being pointed in the direction of what would be the best use of my credits, money and time.  Thanks in advance!

Here are my credits:

The Shmoop credits are most likely no good now unless you can get a uni to accept your associate's as a block credit transfer. If you do need to take history again, Sophia is a good source for cheap credits. They're now $79 for a month and all-you-can-complete in that period. I would suggest signing up and completing everything that doesn't overlap with what you've already completed - except US history, you should probably do that regardless.

Since you used to work in the travel industry, you might be interested in this offering from XAMK: https://www.xamk.fi/en/open-amk-courses/...n-finland/ It's not guaranteed but if you complete all 60 ECTS then they should be worth about 30 US credits. I am not sure what degree it would go with, but it might be a nice addition to your resume even if it doesn't transfer in.

You have enough RA credits to be eligible for COSC; they are also currently the lowest cost of the Big3 at this time.  Between Sophia and Study.com you should be able to get all you need for what remains at an affordable price.

I Originally only applies to COSC Then later sent a transcript to TESU. What was required suffered greatly. I say apply to both and see what your options are.

I would suggest EC. It's more expensive than COSC, but they no longer require 2 depths, meaning a BALA/BSLA is more like TESU's BALS degree (easier to just plug in whatever courses you want). They also have a BSLA, so you can use more non-liberal arts courses if you want; the BALA has a 90/30 split of liberal arts/non-LA courses, while the BSLA has a 60/60 split, giving you a lot of flexibility. Last, they allow an Area of Focus (aka concentration) which they will print on the transcript; and you can choose something like Business if you get the BSLA; and I think you can choose 2 AOF's, although the 2nd one should be a LA course since you're going to need more LA UL courses.

Your courses fit perfectly into the EC degree - you're only missing an Ethics course (which all 3 schools require anyway). I'd go to Sophia and take that, plus another course. Then I'd probably switch to a course provider that had UL courses (like study.com or Davar). EC is a bit more open about accepting credits, since they don't have the "approved provider" rule that TESU and COSC moved towards.

You’re right about that. EC is the only school that accepted my dance credits. I just hate that the Ethics credits has to be UL.

What is a "depth?" And do you still do degree planning? I'm willing to pay--it's for my daughter. Tia.
