TESC-BSAST -Just recieved Eval, now I'm confused

Hi All -

I just received my evaluation today from TESC for a BSAST in Electrical Technology, but I'm kind of confused in interpreting it, & was hoping someone here might be able to offer some insight or advice.

Here's the evaluation:

My specific questions are:

• The evaluation shows 82 SH applied to Degree Req., 38 SH Remaining,, 25 Comm. College SH Applied, & 20 SH to be planned. Does this mean I need 20 SH to complete the degree requirements or 38?
  
• It seems as though I've only been given credit for 6 SH of Free Electives, yet there are quite a few classes listed as "Other Courses", which seem to me like should apply toward the free elective requirement. Am I missing something here?
  

I'm hoping to complete this degree as quickly as possible, so any advice on the quickest route would be greatly appreciated!!

I got it to load. There is a limit on the # of CC credits you can apply so that is probably what the second number is pointing out.

Your eval is a mess kind of like mine was. It is because of the credits you already have not matching TESC's 3 credits per course. Also see the bold/underlined note at the bottom, you've got some work to do with the school on this...

-You were given 9 credits of free electives, but also only need those nine credits. Look at the notes in each area and look for "overage", this means credits were moved around to best utilize what you sent them. It says: "Overage in Coll Alg (3 sh), Physics (2 sh), & AOS (1 sh)." You have so many credits in those areas that they are all given to you in the correct spot above and then deducted from the free electives, it is kind of neat thing once you figure it out.

Here is what is needed:
Humanities:
ENG-201 (3 credits) - Can be completed with Technical Writing DSST or Technical Writing TECEP.
6 more Humanities Elective credits - Can use CLEP, DSST, TECEP, or other exams to fill in.

Social Sciences:
2 more Soc Sci elective credits (due to Psych being 4 credits). If you put in a three credit course it will remove yet another free elective credit which you don't need. You can use an exam here too.

Statistics:
Need 3 credits of Statistics - Can be filled with DSST Statistics.

Electrical Power:
Need 3 credits of Electrical Power

Current Trends:
Need 3 credits of Current Trends and Applications

So you need 20 credits technically, but for things like a 2 credit Soc Sci course you're likely to fill it with a three credit course). So you'll end up with 21 more credits to get 20 credits needed.

The CC limit does not matter in your case (because it is 80 SH), and they even approved some old courses and marked them the "10Y" code, looks like a pretty good eval.

The reason it says 38 credits is you have courses that have not yet been accepted. Due to age of over 10 years, they have courses marked as "DOC" which have no letter grade entered and have the credits in parenthesis. To get those 18 credits you need to submit an application to "demonstrate currency".

You have to prove to the school that you have kept up on technology since the courses are what they determine to be outdated. You will see what I mean when you read the PDF. It's a hurdle to jump through but you'd get your 18 credits back if they are happy with what you provide.
