Hey everyone, I was trying to decide on a doctorate to obtain as I continue my education. I currently have a bachelors degree in mathematics, GPA 3.6, completed alternate route program and have extra graduate mathematics courses. I just finished a masters in Ed Tech, 3.9 GPA, both at my local state school. They have a ED.D program for Ed Tech Leadership but even with a 20 percent discount they are offering it is still roughly 7K per semester for 9 semesters. I looked around for regionally accredited degrees in a similar field as my goal is to go from highschool teacher and adjunct professor to full time professor or a director of some manor. The UCA PH.D in Change Leadership, ACE’s ED.Ds , Purdue globals Ed.D, UNG Higher Ed Leadership Ed.d, KU and Arizona Higher Ed Ed.ds were the ones that I have looked into. If there are other programs with the lowest possible cost that would be looked good upon for university employment in the future please let me know open to all options, just need to make a decision soon. Thanks ahead for your help!

Welcome to the board, great initial post to get the ball rolling, but you've left out a few pieces of info asked for in the addendum and template to provide readers a bigger overview of your scenario. It's best to indicate your age, commitments, study habits, etc...
You've already got a small shortlist to work with, is there a reason to get a larger list? Have you looked at the sister board and made a slightly larger short list? I'd suggest digging for a few more in case, but you really don't need that many to select from.

Does ranking matter in your case?
Walden has an EdD an a PhD in Education. I took a quick glance but couldn't find the total cost. Anyhow they're on the cheaper end in general, so it's worth taking a look at. UoPhoenix also has a EdD I believe.
UIUC has an EdD online at 520USD/credit with a 64 credits graduation requirement. I'm not sure if they'll accept some of your MA credits as transfer.
The total is under 35000 USD if you do the entire 64 credits.

thank you! I work 7-3 daily highschooland adjunct 2 days a week. Summer wise I have work from 8-2 a bit shorter. My age is 28. I’m a step parent so I do have other things like speech therapy and more programs for my stepson who has autism. Also run / play in a men’s basketball league one day a week for 3 hours. However I can reasonably find around 3-4 hours daily most days to complete work and study. My study habits kinda vary per class all depends on the subject matter. I excel at paper writing it comes quick and easy to me thankfully despite being a mathematically inclined person. I do get 40 percent tuition reinbursement up to 2 classes a semester. My budget is flexible but i would like to be under 40K for the entire degree if possible , closer to 30K the better. Timeline under 4 years but the quicker the better so would love something like 2.5 years. As wise to a larger list I was just wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper program with decent prestige that would not get scoffed at when trying to get a higher position within a K-12 school district or as a full time faculty in a university. Also I live in NJ if that helps. Thanks again

Ranking isn’t the biggest of deals but I wouldn’t want soemthing that would not be positively looked at on my resume when applying for director positions , admin work, or full time faculty in university positions,

With a master in education and a doctorate in education you would only be able to really teach Education classes in a college setting. Your bachelor degree wouldn't really matter. Just letting you know. Especially if you're only doing Education Administration, it will be a hard sell to find a good college to hire you as faculty.
Current Degree Programs:
MA Social Science - GSU - May 2025
Master of Leadership and Management - Elmwood Inst./Patten University - July 2025
DA in English Pedagogy/Literature - Murray State - May 2029
Finished Degrees:
AAS Board of Governors -PC&TC 8/2021
ASBA (cum laude) - Franklin University 9/2022
BS Social Science (cum laude) - Franklin University 12/2022

Is there any online PHD or Ed.D in mathematics or Technology that you know of that would kinda fall under the same guidelines price wise?
