Hi guys,
I've been working on my BA in History from TESC, but unfortunately, I've hit a snag. In my attempt to collect some UL credit, I had planned on taking DSST Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union, but it seems to have, been removed due to "to complete our revisions, update content, and receive new ACE approvals"
Does anybody know how long this process can take? I'm only asking because I'm shooting to walk in September, which means I need t o sign up for May classes, and I'm probably going to have a TESC residency requirement.
Or, conversely, does anybody know where to get history credit (UL or otherwise) that transfers to TESC. If this is going to take a while, I need to start now and build out a new plan.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

You could always give DSST Customer Service a call to see if they have a potential release date.

I had the same problem, so I ended up using a different UL exam instead. DSST won't say when the exam will exactly be released, but they said it should be before the end of the year. I am thinking hopefully around August/September most likely.

Yeah, I've already sent out an email and if I don't hear back by tomorrow, I'll call them, and let the forum know what they say.
As for my backup plan. I see that Ohio offers a history credit by exam, and I'm going to have to talk to TESC on whether or not they'll accept it as UL or not. In order to walk in September, TESC needs all transcripts and test scores by July 1st, so at least if the DSST doesn't come back by then, I can quickly take the Ohio test, and still graduate.

You could also look into DSST A History of the Vietnam War, if you haven't taken that already, and check to see if that would count as an upper level course through TESC - I didn't look into it as COSC didn't count it as an UL course.
ACE recommends that it gets upper level credit as shown on the last page of this document:

This may be a convenient option for you if you don't want to spend $500+ for a course, & just spend $100 or so for the DSST exam. There are also instantcert cards, high pass rates, and sufficient information about the exam on the feedback threads.

Yeah, thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately, I already took it.
And, as expected, DSST gave me the same run-around that Mittens got.
Quote:We apologize for any inconvience as the Rise and Fall of Soviet Union exam is currently being reviewed by ACE. We are estimating that this exam will be available later this year, but have no exact date as for when this exam will be available for testing.
So it looks like the ball is in ACE's court on getting the exam back.
