I love the Portland DeVry testing center posted above, just visited it this past week. It has no site test fee (only the fee charged by DSST), computer; not paper tests like other places around here, and weekly testing times with little advance scheduling needed. Very nice people too, they offered me coffee, cookies and candy. Hope I can visit it weekly .

I want to schedule DSST at DeVry Portland on Barnes but when I go to their main website link I can't find anything about DSST scheduling. Where do I go to schedule my tests? Thanks.

I think I ended up calling Devry's main number and got transferred to someone who was able to give me the contact information for the proctor at the San Antonio location. I hope your local location is better than mine. I know they are offering a free service, but why offer it at all if you aren't going to respond to emails or phone calls? I scheduled one test and the proctor in San Antonio acts like he has little time to proctor more. Maybe he does more than testing. I don't know, but I've found Wayland Baptist University to be the better option even though they charge a $20 fee. I hope they're open during the summer. Our Lady of the Lake University is a good place to take CLEPs for anyone who is in the area. They don't offer DSSTs, though.

showmeyourbolt Wrote:Hi there folks!
First off, I'm new to the site, so I just wanted to say how nice a community this place is. I've already found a ton of stuff on here that has made taking CLEP's a ton easier than it otherwise would have been, so I thank you for that!
Now, I need to try and delve into the well of knowledge that is this forum once again, in order to try and find a Dantes testing site up here in Washington! I drive down into Portland to take the CLEP tests, but I'm having a hard time finding a college that offers DSST exams. This is made harder due to the fact that the getcollegecredit site simply doesn't want to work on my computer!
If anyone knows of any testing sites in the general Portland/Vancouver area I would be very appreciative.
Try the following location in Marysville, WA. They are authorized for DSST and CLEP exams.
Columbia College
13910 45th Ave. NE
Marysville, WA 9821
It is inside a navy facility. You can contact Ms Sheila Cook (sjcook@ccis.edu) or Call 425-304-4480 for appointment. They charge only $20 per exam (proctor fee) in addition to what DSST or CLEP charges.

DeVry makes very little money from testing. The hours are limited and setting up the appointment may involve phone tag, but when three members of the same family are testing simultaneously, not paying an administrative fee really adds up. I don't mind a slightly lower level of service when I'm paying significantly less for something.

Warner Pacific College is definitely the place to go now (2014) for DSST exams in the Portland-Vancouver area. Karen Banks is still their Adult Degree Program testing coordinator. She has picked up on the first ring each time I've called, but then I made a point not to do it while she was proctoring. There is now no limit on the number of outside students who can test, your reservation cannot be bumped once you've paid, and the fee is still only $30.
Warner Pacific currently has two published testing days per month in addition to the unannounced days you can get in on when you schedule by phone, like I just did, for the Fundamentals of Cyber Security exam I took there yesterday.
Their ADP testing center is by far the best appointed I've used in the area: two dozen new-ish computers with big high-resolution flat-screen monitors and clean, working keyboards and mice, in a quiet, spacious, well-lit temperature controlled room full of comfortable chairs at ergonomic workstations. The proctor is physically present in the room for the whole test and unobtrusive as a librarian. I like that better than being on closed circuit video. The testing center is easy to get to by car, bus or MAX, and parking is free.
To be fair, when I tested at DeVry's Keller Graduate School of Management way on the far side of Portland, they were renovating the building, so I was lucky to get the opportunity at all. DeVry no longer offers DSST's in this area. Phoenix shut down their Vancouver location near my home before I got a chance to try them.
Things change. Sometimes for the better.
