DSST Testing Centers in the Pacific Northwest? - showmeyourbolt - 07-19-2009 Hi there folks! First off, I'm new to the site, so I just wanted to say how nice a community this place is. I've already found a ton of stuff on here that has made taking CLEP's a ton easier than it otherwise would have been, so I thank you for that! Now, I need to try and delve into the well of knowledge that is this forum once again, in order to try and find a Dantes testing site up here in Washington! I drive down into Portland to take the CLEP tests, but I'm having a hard time finding a college that offers DSST exams. This is made harder due to the fact that the getcollegecredit site simply doesn't want to work on my computer! If anyone knows of any testing sites in the general Portland/Vancouver area I would be very appreciative. DSST Testing Centers in the Pacific Northwest? - JanusthePhoenix - 07-19-2009 I take all my tests at University of Phoenix. I think they all offer CLEP and DSST, but call and ask to make sure. Maybe my computer is just slow right now. DSST Testing Centers in the Pacific Northwest? - Joel - 07-19-2009 I had the same result...must be on their end. I'm in Portland, Oregon, and the UOP campuses locally tell me they do not offer DSST to the general public. They say they wish the DSST website would stop showing them as open centers, but other geographies of UOP do offer testing to the public and so...etc, etc. Warner Pacific College offers DSST testing. Karen Banks is the person you need to speak to in the adult degree program. Danger! Warning! You will call repeatedly and leave voicemails and get no response & when you finally start to wonder if you'd be willing to drive to some little school outside Salem Oregon to take your test, you will finally reach her. You will find that they only accept one outside student per test day (one day per month), and you can only sign up for one exam per day. It's $30 plus the fee from DSST. They still call it "DANTES". I have the July and August spots, and I will reply here about my experience -- I fully expect to show up and find they've given my seat to someone else (they've cashed my check) or that they don't really offer testing at all, they are really just graduate Psychology students doing a study on what makes people go postal. Phillip DSST Testing Centers in the Pacific Northwest? - showmeyourbolt - 07-20-2009 Thank you all for your help folks! The website decided to work for me today, but it really didn't do me much good. I ended up calling quite a few of the colleges to find out that they didn't offer the DSST tests. But, I did find a University of Phoenix location up in Renton Washington that offers testing, so that's where I'm going to go. It's about two hours north of where I live, so it won't be too long of a drive. Thank you all again! DSST Testing Centers in the Pacific Northwest? - MISin08 - 07-29-2009 The Warner Pacific testing experience is OK once you get through to them. It's nothing like CLEP at Portland State U, which is very professional with nice new computers. The DSST I took today was paper and pencil (they told me they had computers when I first approached them); the proctor was helpful and pleasant. On my next visit I will try to sweet-talk them into letting me take two exams so I can do the graded Intro to Business. Phillip DSST Testing Centers in the Pacific Northwest? - nstraub - 08-01-2009 I've had the same exact problem with finding a testing center in this area. I took the DSST World Religions at Corban College in Salem, OR. It was a long drive, but my family was going there anyway. The people there were very friendly and helpful. This spring I took the DSST Speech at Warner Pacific in Portland. They are hard to get a hold of, and they do only offer testing one day a month. But I was able to take the test there, and they were accommodating once I got there, about starting late. Of course, DSST Speech is always a paper and pencil test (with a tape recording section, too). Last winter they said they were planning on enabling computer based testing for DSST exams, but so far nothing. A third option that may open up is Portland Community College. I am in contact on-and-off with staff at their Capitol Testing Center about offering DSST testing there. They've filled out the preliminary application, and we'll see what happens. DSST Testing Centers in the Pacific Northwest? - 1MP4Life - 08-03-2009 Fort Lewis Army installation and McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, WA both offer DSST testing. I took two DSST's last week, one at each installation and had to register at least 24 hours in advanced through Pierce Community College (Pierce College - Military programs. The collegeâs website gives test times and instructions for base access if you do not have military affiliation. |
