I am studying for the DSST test Civil War and reconstruction. Has anybody taken this test? Any pointers? I saw the comment in the study guide that said you should study other materials besides this study guide, said most students don't pass the test by only using this web site. Is it that hard of a test?

Try using the search function. There's lots of info already posted for this test in General Discussion, and even more in the Specific Exam section.
That said, try to find the Ken Burns Civil War documentary in your local library or something.

The study questions posted in the official thread were RIGHT ON. This test wasn't very deep. The flash cards were a good start for me, I also watched "greatest battles of the Civil War" it really helped to remember the facts.

My kids looked up everything mentioned in the exam specific feedback, watched Ken Burns and other films and spent much time on the related Wikipedia articles. We read the Spark Notes guides on Civil War and Reconstruction (5$ each).
Memorize!!
Both came away with good scores.
