DSST: Intro to Computing

I have been studying vigorously for this test. Is this test pretty basic (as long as you study the info on this site) or is it complex do-do-bop-bop information?

I'm familiar with the CLEP Info Systems, and they're supposed to be similar. I think if you're a geek who likes to use a computer, it's not difficult, tons of vocabulary. Keep in mind lots of stuff on there is dated.

For me all the dated geeky stuff was quite simple, like netiquette (laughable these days), and the slap in the face obvious.

I had trouble with the career related questions, like what a systems analyst does, and some office related machines and their functions.

I still got 80% on the practice tests.

The two test are not similar, maybe a little. The DSST Intro to Computing is way easy. I didn't even study for it and passed it. The CLEP IS&CA I had to study for about two weeks.
IC is perfect, has all you need to pass the DSST, and the CLEP, but go for the Intro to Computing. I agree with the above, do the practice exams.
Just my suggestion.

I'm a good test-taker, but a poor studier. I passed the DSST Intro to Computing with next to no studying. If you're studying, you'll do really well. If you can take a test, and have a working knowledge of computers, you should pass. Add studying, and you'll do really well.

I have no idea what do-do-bop-bop information is, but the test is real easy. I was done in around 15 minutes.

You need to know who started Apple, Microsoft, IBM and HP. The Patherson test had a lot of the same questions that were on the real test. If you do not know and answer flag it and go on. I was able to figure out a few answers the the wording of other questions. GOOD LUCK!

im taking the DSST intro to computing on the 3rd. I heard it was pretty easy. im just studying stuff on here at Instantcert, Any more helpful info?

I was drinking heavily one day around noon, and in the midst of a heavy alcoholic blackout I suddenly emerged into a brief moment of coherent thought and lucidity, only to find that I had somehow stumbled into the CLEP Testing Office! After scribbling some illegible gibberish on (and then vomiting Jim Beam all over) the sign-in sheet, I once again awoke to consciousness several minutes later to discover that I had somehow become seated in front of a computer with this very test selected! I clicked incoherently for several minutes, drifting in and out of wild delusions and rants about the End-Times, then awoke again outside on the sidewalk with a scoring sheet that said I had passed with a score of 450. Amazing!


But seriously. I walked in and took this test with zero studying. If you're not very familiar with computers, run through the flash cards twice, then go in and use those nuggets of knowledge combined with your common sense. You'll do fine.

I just took this test last friday and passed with a 430!! My first test out test! I studied the flash cards and took some of the free practice tests. I felt pretty comfortable about most of the test, but saw a few questions I had no idea about. So I just concentrated to make sure I got all the question that I knew about, right. I am a slow test taker and it took me about 70 minutes.
