DSST Developing New Tests in Several CLEP Subjects

The DSST program is hiring US college and university instructors to be contract subject matter experts to contribute to test development in

• American Government and Politics, which would be a new title to the DSST program, competing with CLEP
  
• Analyzing and Interpreting English Literature, same
  
• Calculus, same
  
• Introduction to Psychology, same; DSST is still also hiring for the existing DSST subject Lifespan Developmental Psychology
  
• Ethics & Society, a different title than the current DSSTs “Business Ethics & Society,” “Ethics in America,” and “Ethics in Technology.” The simplest explanation is that they’re revising Ethics in America with a more global name. But it’s also possible the new title will consolidate business ethics with general ethics.
  

This is great news for people who can’t reasonably access CLEP testing. Online CLEP testing with remote proctoring is only available to US residents or military. I would have to drive six hours one way crossing an international border to reach the closest in-person public CLEP center, and at least two days to reach the closest one in the country I’m in.

This is also good news for test-takers with long academic planning time horizons. Since 2022 CLEP will no longer issue score reports 10 years after an exam is taken.

This is also good news for this little sector of education generally.
