I just jointed Instant Cert Today and will be looking to take the Criminal Justice DSST Test in the next week.
What score do i need to pass this exam ?
I recently tried taking the substance abuse exam and got a 369 of 400 ? But was not sure what i actually needed to pass the test.
1) Where can i find practice exams to see if have grasped the material enough to pass the test ?
2) What is the recommended score to get on a practice exam before i should go take the real exam ?
3) Any recommendations would be helpful
Overall how are DSST and CLEP Exams scored is it on percentage or a number scale ?

You can greatly benefit from a search of this site. Look in the upper right and you can access a huge array of info on any exam.
As for your specific exam, check out these links:
http://www.getcollegecredit.com/images/u...ustice.pdf (This is the official guide and has five practice questions)
Criminal Justice DSST Study Guide - Free-Clep-Prep.com (another great site to add to what you can get from this site and Instantcert)
The passing score on that exam is 400 and that translates to 61-66% depending on the test form given (according to the DSST Exam Scoring Explained PDF). Scores which are 400 to pass are out of 500 points (and each translate to a different passing percent), scores that are in the 40's or 50 to pass are out of 80 (and are based on the passing score equaling what a C student got on that exam when doing testing using hundreds of students). The Substance Abuse exam you took was not a pass, it will tell you on the results page what the passing score is (that one is 400 too). You can also go back right now and look at the results again by visiting
https://ibt.prometric.com/dsst and signing in with the same login info.
CLEP exams are all based on a passing score of 50 (out of 80) and use the method of equating 50 to a C students score on that exam.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Anyone who is interested in credit by examination really should be familiarizing themselves with the testing programs. All of them have websites which should be the place to start reading -- the list of exams available, a description/details of each exam, scoring, etc.
Please, I want to encourage each of you to double-check with your college or university before assuming you achieved a passing score. I am coming across more and more institutions that are requiring their students to score higher than the ACE-recommended passing score, particularly in regards to CLEP exams. In MOST cases, 50 or higher is a passing score for the CLEP exams, and a score of 400 or higher is considered passing for the "refreshed" DSST exams (those that are not refreshed have varying passing scores from 44-48 and the computerized exams will display the ACE-recommended passing score before the exam actually begins).
